We have had a cancellation, so decided to do something a little bit crazy..

Our trio of original Genarm paintings by Joanne Campbell (www.joannecampbellart.co.uk) is finally in place in the apartment. We think they make the perfect celebration of some of the beauty of Glenarm as well as highlighting the work of this very talented local artist. What do you think?

As anyone who knows me will agree- I love learning new skills and knowledge, so here’s what I’ve been up to recently.

Firstly a huge debt of gratitude to Carrickfergus Enterprise and the Labour Market Partnership for enabling me to do the Hospitality Taster where I got qualifications in World Host and First Aid in the Workplace,( as well as a beautiful framed print and Tea towel that have pride of place in the apartment.) Secondly, thank you to NOW Group and JAM Card, for accepting us as a JAM friendly business and providing the training to ensure we feel confident in delivering a positive experience for anyone with communication difficulties. Then, to top it all off, thank you Tourism NI and Belfast Met for organising and facilitating the training to gain OCN NI in Customer Service.

All of these opportunities are wonderful for me personally , but they also help make sure that The Apartment 23a can really stand out in providing the best experience for our guests that we possible can.

Looking forward to see what comes next….

What is a holiday in Ireland without myths and legends? We wanted our younger guests to leave with a real reminder of their holiday, so over the past few months I’ve been collecting some traditional stories and re-writing them for children. Each child who stays here is now going to have their own bit of Irish tradition to take home. I’ve loved doing it because it really did bring me closer to my own childhood and the bedtime stories I was told as I was growing up.
