Less than 10 minutes drive, the small town centre of Chalus is quiet, and a typical example of the traditional towns in the region with a central market place and several narrow alleys to explore.

The ruined castle that stands above the town is the 11th century Château Châlus-Chabrol, where Richard the Lionheart was fatally wounded in 1199. There’s a guided tour (in English too) and you can explore the various medieval buildings and tower. Follow with a drink at the cafe overlooking the town!

What a beautiful family holiday we have had at Grant and Elizabeth's fabulous accommodation. Felt right at home straight away. Extremely spacious interior with plenty of privacy to be had when required. A wonderful outside area, of which the pool and outdoor kitchen/cooking/searing area was the real highlight, we had so much fun outside and spent most of our time there. Wonderful to see deer, lizards and several woodpeckers and not forgetting the kittens which were so cute. Overall we could not fault anything wrt this holiday also our hosts were so responsive with any questions we had about the area. Thank you again Grant & Elizabeth.
