Avian Influenza Prevention Zone

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) has been declared across Great Britain effective from 5pm on 3 November 2021. The AIPZ means all bird keepers in Great Britain (whether they have pet birds, commercial flocks or just a few birds in a backyard flock) are required by law to take a range of biosecurity precautions.

Fabulous news! The chickens are coming out of lockdown before us but that’s absolutely fine. I’ve missed them pottering about and there’s a few weeds they need to hoover up!

New housing rules come into force on Monday 14th December. ‘Inside’ doesn’t actually mean nestling down watching ‘Strictly’ in the lounge with you but you will probably need to make some adaptations to their coop and run. It is disappointing to hear tonight that the U.K. is now in an Avian Flu Prevention zone.

The link below gives full information. This goes for all birds including our beloved garden pets. You shouldn’t let them free range so they don’t come into contact with wild birds and keep food and water covered. If you have a walk in run you will need disinfectant foot baths or to change shoes upon exit and entry. We’ve got through this before and we can again but all keepers need to pull together to keep all our birds safe. If you need any advice please just ask. 🤞 🐓

Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) declared – 11 November 2020

In response to the heightened risk of H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza, an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) has been declared in England, Scotland and Wales. It introduces additional biosecurity measures for all poultry and captive bird keepers to protect them from the risk from wild birds. The measures apply to all poultry keepers (including game) whether you keep birds commercially or as pets.

We have received a large number of enquiries for bookings in the last 48hours. It’s great to hear that some of us will get to have holidays after all this year. ☀️ 🏖

We are taking bookings but now have limited availability for several weeks in August so please get in touch early to avoid disappointment.

Britons will be able to visit some European countries without self-isolating on their return.

We were lucky enough to get some ducks eggs at the farm shop yesterday! A real treat.
Compare them next to the hens and bantams eggs! 🥚 🍳 🐓

Two weeks old and starting to get some lovely feathers. Even a few brown ones! 😍

This is where they have a chance to fly/flap about once a day while their brooder is being cleaned. They are under heat for the rest of the day and will for several weeks to come.
