Grouse Beatkeeper
Middle End Moor, Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham
A passionate and enthusiastic beatkeeper is required for a prestigious beat on the Middle End grouse moor in Teesdale. We operate across approximately 15,000 acres of land of which 9,000 are moorland which is split into 4 beats. The individual will be responsible for their moorland area in addition to some lowground focusing on wild pheasants and English partridges. They will be working as part of a team and in close conjunction with the headkeeper.
Duties will include habitat management covering heather cutting as well as rush control, predator control, grit distribution along with some infrastructure works. Machinery operation will be a key requirement for the role. The majority of the shooting is undertaken by the principals.
There is a well-situated semi-detached property with kennels and storage buildings available along with a pick-up and quad bike. Full clean driving licence, sh***un and fi****ms certificate and working dogs required. Attractive and competitive package available for the right candidate.

Hatchery Manager

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Hatchery Manager to run a small private hatchery, dedicated to supporting and enhancing wild salmon populations within a well-managed private estate.

The successful candidate will bring proven experience in hatchery operations, with a strong understanding of salmon biology and life cycles. This is a hands-on role requiring both operational oversight and day-to-day management.

Key responsibilities include:

Planning and managing hatchery operations throughout the annual cycle
Monitoring fish health, water quality, and environmental conditions
Ensuring adherence to best practice, in line with relevant government department guidance
Maintenance and upkeep of all hatchery facilities and equipment
Leading initiatives to support and improve wild salmon stocks
Candidate profile:

Demonstrable experience in fish hatchery management or a closely related field
Sound knowledge of wild salmon ecology and development stages
Self-motivated, and capable of working independently
Practical skills and experience in water supply systems and sensor equipment
Physically capable of working in challenging conditions, in and around water, often in bad weather
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

We are looking for a multi-skilled tradesperson to join an existing estate team, maintaining
and repairing property on a privately owned Oxfordshire estate.
The role
• Responsible for providing a wide range of high-quality repair works on residential and commercial
property
• Varied maintenance and renovation work which may include carpentry, basic plumbing, plastering,
pointing, brickwork, paving and decorating
• Liaising with contractors on site for specialist works
• Point of contact for tenant repairs
• Working with the managing agents and maintenance team to develop and inform repair and
maintenance schedules
Typical jobs
Carpentry and sash window repairs, plastering and decorating, lime pointing and stonework, minor
plumbing and drain clearance, and minor electrical work such as replacing sockets and light fittings.
The candidate
• A main trade (carpentry, plastering, bricklaying, stonemasonry, building or decorating) plus good all-
round building skills with a minimum of 5 years’ experience
• Experience of listed buildings and traditional construction methods
• Personable, organised and self-motivated; a good communicator who is happy working
independently or within a team
• A full UK driving licence

The role includes looking after hefted blackies in a moorland situation, working closely with the upland sporting enterprise on the estate.
