I’m feeling a little uneasy by the fact we have elderflowers coming out now and still on 3rd October got swallows just leaving a nest!
You might not be able to see the little chap sitting on the camera. There’s been a lot of practice flying going on so I hope they’ll be ok 🤞🤞🤞

A fresh mango and toasted coconut tatin!
We all love tarte tatin but often only made with apples. With 3 lovely ripe mangoes I thought I’d experiment. It was a successful experiment 😋!!

I’ve had lots of lovely messages and suggestions from people since i announced my break from B and B. I really appreciate it.
As I may restart I’m going to keep this page open for the time being, possibly change it’s name
🤷‍♀️ and perhaps post some cooking or recipe suggestions. I’ve had lots of suggestions of new ideas to keep me out of mischief which I’m mulling over. 🙏🤔😉

The last lovely guests have left before I have a break from B and B 😢.
When I went to strip the beds I found this lovely note. How ironic on my last morning I find such kind words.
I’ll miss these sort of visitors as I’ve always tried to provide somewhere for people to stay that I’d like to stay at too.

It’s after much deliberation and family discussion that I’ve come to the hard decision to take a break from running Braefield b and b. 😢

I’ve changed my mind umpteen times, gone round and round in circles but I think unfortunately with the new Scottish short let license being quite uncertain, unclear, expensive and lengthy paperwork to apply for it, I’ve decided for the moment that for 2 rooms it’s just not worth my while. It’s sad when I know our area is short of places to stay and after 10+ years of doing it I’ll miss many of the wonderful visitors who come regularly to stay.

I know many like me are either taking a break or closing for good it’s a sad situation. My thinking cap is on for new ideas to replace the b and b 🤔

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the amazing people who have been to stay with us for whatever reason they needed a bed and feeding either breakfast and/or dinner.
This next weekend is the last weekend of bookings 😞. Hopefully only a short break and I’ll be open again soon 🤞

It’s funny how some years fruit trees are hanging down with quantities of fruit 🍎 and another year they can have none. This is an apple tree “Katie” covered in little eating apples 😋

Really a very unusual sight in a nearby field. Full of sunflowers and a blue flower that smell lovely, covered in bees and bugs and being used as a green fertiliser. Once flowering is over it’ll be ploughed into the soil for nutrients.

There’s been a lot of animated flying practice recently which sadly I think is because the swallows are getting ready for their long flights 😞. Such a long way for them to fly 🤞🤞🤞
