A key focus on our restoration project is not just preserving the building itself but also the history surrounding it.
This is why the team at Worth Valley Developments asked local historian, Eddie Kelly, to find out as much as he could about the history of the Victoria hotel. From its beginnings as a horse hospital through its many years as a grand hospitality venue.
This image was kindly shared by Gary Peters and shows the buildings close proximity to the railway which was key to its success for many years as accommodation for commercial travellers.
Our latest plans hope once again to forge links with the local railway lines, namely and with the aim of providing accommodation to train users in the future.
Whether you’re taking the steam train for a weekender in Haworth, or travelling the glorious Settle-Carlisle route overhead the Ribblehead viaduct or heading North for a holiday amongst the glorious hills of the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District, The Victoria will offer an ideal stopover location.
Keighley has also hosted the ultimate train fan and is the location for the original and the latest Railway Children films.
You can search online for more information on trains to and from Keighley and to find out more about the town’s railway heritage.
