The Victoria Keighley

The Victoria Keighley The iconic Victoria hotel in Keighley is undergoing major redevelopment to create a unique setting for independent retail and hospitality ventures.

This iconic Victorian in the heart of Keighley town centre is currently undergoing major renovation to turn if from an almost derelict hotel and pub into a new commercial operation, with 4 commercial units on the ground floor and 11 or 12 holiday apartments on the first and second floors. The owners, Worth Valley Developments, and the builders, Keiton Construction are keen to preserve this beautif

ul and historic building so are focused on conserving original features wherever possible. For example, we have managed to refurbish the original stained glass windows and Victorian ornate pillars.

Great to read more positive news about Keighley

Rich in industrial heritage, Keighley isn’t often the first place that springs to mind as a hub for the creative industries.

Don’t worry… it will take more than a few structural issues to scare us off!

Although we are on pause at the moment, we hope to recommence work soon and get the transformation from scary looking building site to frighteningly gorgeous commercial@units and holiday apartments finished.

Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!

A key focus on our restoration project is not just preserving the building itself but also the history surrounding it.

This is why the team at Worth Valley Developments asked local historian, Eddie Kelly, to find out as much as he could about the history of the Victoria hotel. From its beginnings as a horse hospital through its many years as a grand hospitality venue.

This image was kindly shared by Gary Peters and shows the buildings close proximity to the railway which was key to its success for many years as accommodation for commercial travellers.

Our latest plans hope once again to forge links with the local railway lines, namely and with the aim of providing accommodation to train users in the future.

Whether you’re taking the steam train for a weekender in Haworth, or travelling the glorious Settle-Carlisle route overhead the Ribblehead viaduct or heading North for a holiday amongst the glorious hills of the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District, The Victoria will offer an ideal stopover location.

Keighley has also hosted the ultimate train fan and is the location for the original and the latest Railway Children films.

You can search online for more information on trains to and from Keighley and to find out more about the town’s railway heritage.
