A little Flamborough pride
We’re getting ever closer to this year’s Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards, and we’re rather proud that Cherry Tree Cottage isn’t the only Flamborough business heading to the finals.

Alongside our nomination for Remarkable Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year, two other fantastic local businesses have also been shortlisted:
Boathouse at North Landing for Remarkable Taste of East Yorkshire, and East Coast Shellfish for Remarkable Local Producer.

For one small village on the Yorkshire coast to have three businesses represented across three different categories feels pretty special.
One of the things we love about Flamborough is that it has retained such a strong sense of place. Independent businesses, local produce, incredible scenery and people who genuinely care about giving visitors a reason to come back.
So, whatever happens when the Visit Hull & East Yorkshire winners are announced at Bridlington Spa on 18 November, we’ll be very proud to be there representing Flamborough alongside them.

One of the things we love about having Cherry Tree Cottage in Flamborough is discovering the fascinating, and sometimes surprising, stories of the Yorkshire coast.

Who would have thought that the earliest recorded surfing in Britain took place not in Cornwall, but just down the road in Bridlington?

Back in 1890, two Hawaiian princes took to the waves of the North Sea, leaving behind a remarkable little piece of local history.

We've been unearthing the story for a Beyond the Cottage blog post, where we share some of the places, history and hidden gems that make this part of Yorkshire so special.

Well, this is a lovely surprise...

Cherry Tree Cottage has been shortlisted as one of just four finalists for Remarkable Self Catering Accommodation of the Year at the REYTA Tourism Awards 2026/27!

Considering we only welcomed our very first guests in May, I'm honestly a little bit stunned.

We've put so much care into creating a cottage where people can slow down, explore Flamborough and the Yorkshire coast, and hopefully go home feeling a little lighter than when they arrived. To have Cherry Tree Cottage recognised in our very first season means an enormous amount.

A huge thank you to everyone who has stayed with us, left such lovely reviews, recommended us or booked to come back. You've helped make our first year rather more remarkable than I ever expected.

Now apparently I need to find something to wear to an awards ceremony... 😬

We’re on the National Trails website!

We’re delighted that Cherry Tree Cottage is now listed by National Trails as a place to stay when walking the King Charles III England Coast Path.

The coast path around Flamborough is quite spectacular with towering chalk cliffs, hidden coves, sweeping sea views and some wonderful wildlife along the way. And from the cottage, you can simply set off on foot and explore.
Whether you’re planning a walking break or just fancy a few days by the sea with some beautiful coastal walks thrown in, Cherry Tree Cottage makes a lovely little base.

That's it for this year folks!

And just like that, the puffins have left RSPB Bempton Cliffs for another year.

If you managed to spot one over the summer, we hope you found it every bit as magical as we always do.

But don't put away the binoculars just yet, Bempton Cliffs is still a spectacular place to visit. The chalk cliffs are as beautiful as ever and there's still plenty of seabirds to enjoy, with gannets, fulmars and herring gulls still very much in residence.

Happy Yorkshire Day from Cherry Tree Cottage!
From village greens and rolling countryside to dramatic cliffs and sea air, we feel very lucky to have the best of Yorkshire right on our doorstep here in Flamborough.
There really is nowhere quite like it. 💛

A little seasonal hazard at Cherry Tree Cottage 🍎

Our apple tree is currently dropping fruit rather enthusiastically, so we’ve added a small warning for guests and are asking everyone to park forward of the tree where possible.

One of the less glamorous realities of having a beautiful old fruit tree in the garden, but we wouldn’t be without it. Hopefully there’ll be enough good apples left for a crumble or two!
