We got a little confused last week and wrongly indicated that the beautiful Primrose Cottage in Dartmoor was in Dartmouth. It is most definitely in the Devon National Park of Dartmoor so look out for wild ponies and you’ll avoid the pleasure boats! 🐴⛴

How’s the home baking going everyone? For the first time in my life I’m baking bread because we need it, rather than just want it, this feels different. We are trying to do the right thing and stay at home, making the most of the ingredients I have here and not nipping out when we have run out of something. This dough will turn into mini pizzas for lunch and a loaf for tea to go with bacon and eggs.
Recipe: 500g plain strong flour, 7g dried yeast, 300g lukewarm water, 7g table salt, 10g olive oil.
Bring it all together in a bowl and then turn out into the work surface and knead into a smooth ball over 10 minutes, then back into the bowl covered in a warm dry tea towel for an hour in a warm place to prove. Knock back with a punch into the dough and knead again for another 5 minutes, then shape into whatever it’s to be, like rolls, or a loaf or a pizza base, and prove again for another 45mins in a warm place. Then into a hot oven 180 degrees for up to 45mins for 2 loaves, or 25 for 8 bread rolls, or 20mins in a very hot oven 220 degrees with pizza ingredients on top. For pizza or bread sticks you skip the second rise. Let me know how you get on 😋
