Hi Everyone,
This is a great time to come to Brighton now that the crowds of summer students have gone and the weather is getting crisper. Brighton is full of gorgeous pubs serving great food and many will be lighting their fires soon for cosy night and Sunday afternoons. Check out the Prince Albert (Vegetarian) https://princealbertbrighton.co.uk/, Prince George http://www.princegeorge.pub/, Hop Poles http://www.hoppoles.pub/, The Dorset https://www.thedorset.co.uk/ and the Walrus https://www.thewalrusbrighton.com/. All these lovely pub are in and around the Brighton Laines, they're my personal favourites and I hope you'll like them too!
This month is all about comedy with the annual Brighton Dome Comedy Festival taking place throughout October and attracting some of the biggest names in stand up https://brightondome.org/whats_on/comedy/. Just around the corner from Brighton Dome is also the best comedy club in the south - The Komedia which has shows on all through the week and the famous Krater stand up shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday https://www.komedia.co.uk/brighton/. These feature 4-5 comedians (including a resident Host) and you may well see someone who on TV very soon. Many big names have started here and if you're able to go on Sunday you can currently bag yourself half price tickets with Groupon up to the 24th of November https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/gl-komedia-brighton-16.
There's so much to see and do in Brighton that walking is usually the best way (also parking is very expensive!) but cycling is great too and there are lots of excellent cycle paths around the city including a wide one running the whole length of the seafront. You can easily hire a bike for a day, an afternoon or even just an hour with the Brighton Bike system and there are collection/drop off points all around the city https://www.brightonbeachbikes.co.uk/.
Lastly, it's not long now until Hallowe'en and Bonfire Night and Brighton does love to celebrate these things and if you are lucky enough to be in the city on the 21st of December you will get to see the Burning of the Clocks. This is featured on international websites as one of the best times to be in England https://rove.me/to/england/burning-the-clocks. It's a celebration of the winter solstice and an alternative to the commercialisation and over consumption many have concerns about with Christmas. It's a beautiful candlelit parade using handmade willow and paper lanterns culminating in the being burnt at the seafront and a large firework display that can be seen for miles. It's inclusive, secular and non-superstitious - evreything that Brighton is about really!
Have a great time
Katharine
Famous over many years for its all-vegetarian menu, a recent upgrade means the George has much more besides the grub going for it. Keeping a traditional feel
