For our old friends - just to say a few weeks back we lost our Millie. She went over the Rainbow Bridge to meet up with Shadi once more. Needless to say we're devastated 😥. She was a great dog and we miss her so much!

Hello all from sunny Elmer Sands (actually it's raining right now 🤥) Pleased that the cottage is being let again for all you passionate fans of Letter Steading and the beautiful Loch Katrine, and for those newbies who are about to experience for the first time the joys of the Trossachs National Park.
We no longer run the cottage but are happy to keep this page going as there are some lovely memories on here for both Gordon and I (some sad ones now that Charlie and Shadi are no longer with us) but also of our previous guests, many of whom became good friends, as some of their photos are on here. So a little plea - happy to answer any general questions about the area as having lived there for 12 years we do of course know it so well - but if there are any questions about the cottage and your stay please do call SYKES COTTAGES, the agents you booked with.

Hi All! Hope you're well....it's been a long time but thought I'd let you know we're all still walking and talking! You may be interested to know that the owners of Letter Steading are going to rent it out again, this time through an agency. When it's all up and running I'll put a note on here in case anyone is having withdrawal symptoms of not seeing Loch Katrine for a while! xx

Today we said a sad goodbye to our Shadi, who at the tender age of 13, succombed to cancer. Wagging her tail at everyone, she was loved by all who met her. She will be sadly missed by Gordon and me, and Millie too. She was loved, so much.

It's a year since we moved! How time flies. We are so very happy down here - after all we're living in the sunniest location in England! Gordon has brown legs as opposed to the lily white legs he normally flashes if he gets them out at all! The girls - Millie and Shadi - are still going strong thank goodness (Shadi had a visit to the vet recently, heart and lungs both sounding ok....long may it last. I've been swimming in the sea quite a lot this summer which has been lovely. Enjoyed doing up our garden and finding my green fingers again. Hope you're all well, fine and dandy and not missing us too much!!

So, now it's June and Gordon and I are very settled in our lovely Elmer Sands seaside home. I think we have sat outside having our coffee or lunch almost every day and my tan is looking pretty good! The girls are loving the beach (lots of doggie friends to talk to and sniff) and so far our Shadi is doing well, though it has to be said she is slowing up a lot and only wants shortish walks. As you know she had her spleen removed a few months back as she had a mass which had ruptured. We know her time is limited as she has spots on her lungs but we are making her time left with us happy and she is particularly enjoying lying out on the patio in the sun. She is well-loved, as is our Millie, and we will be devastated when her time comes.
If you're still hankering after Loch Katrine do get in touch and I'll put you in touch with some of the other cottages on the lochside.
