In hospitality, people often ask me what the secret is. Is it luxury? Expensive furniture? Perfect marketing? Beautiful rooms?
And my answer is always the same — people remember how you made them feel.
Through my journey as the owner of A&B Guest House in Cambridge, I learned something very powerful: when you truly love people, people feel it. And when people feel genuinely cared for, they give that love back naturally.
Guests are very intuitive. They can read energy before words are even spoken. They know when a smile is forced and when kindness comes from the bottom of the heart. Hospitality is not just about check-ins, beds, or clean towels. It is human connection. It is making someone feel safe, welcome, seen, and appreciated, even if they stay only one night.
Over the years at A&B Guest House, I met guests from all over the world. Some arrived tired after long journeys, some stressed from work, some emotional, some celebrating special moments. I realised that sometimes the greatest thing we can offer is not perfection, but warmth. A genuine “How are you?” A little extra care. Remembering their name. Listening. Making them feel at home away from home.
You cannot fake authentic hospitality. Guests always know. Energy speaks louder than words.
I truly believe that when hospitality comes from the heart, it creates invisible memories people never forget. That is why many guests return to A&B Guest House again and again. Not only for Cambridge, but for the feeling they experienced while staying with us.
Business grows differently when people feel valued. Reviews become emotional. Recommendations become personal. Connections become lasting.
For me, hospitality is not a transaction. It is sharing humanity.
And maybe that is the real secret:
When you genuinely love people, people love you back.
That energy always finds its way home.
