If you fancy a change of scenery, Guildford makes for a great day out. The town has some fantastic history, with its Norman castle keep dating back to the 11th century and the charming Guildford Museum tucked away right next to the castle grounds.

The museum is packed with local history and like Farnham’s it's completely free to enter! Just keep in mind if you're planning a visit to the museum it is only open to visitors from Wednesday to Saturday (12pm to 4:30pm).

Best of all, with a direct line right from Farnham, it’s incredibly nice to just jump on the train instead of dealing with traffic and parking !

The poppies are also out at the moment 👍

Walked past Harold Falkner’s old house on West Street today.

As an architect who devoted his entire life's work to Farnham, shaping the very soul and style of our town centre in the early 20th century, it makes you wonder... What would Harold think if he walked down our streets today?

With recent developments completed and even more major changes on the way, the face of Farnham is shifting fast.

Would he champion the evolution, or would he be fiercely defending the classic style he loved so much?

Farnham is always evolving, but hopefully, we never lose that distinct market town character he worked so hard to build.

Spotted some upcoming tree work notices on West Street. Fingers crossed these beautiful trees are just getting a well-deserved prune and aren't 'for the chop'!

If you use the parking spaces outside the Library, please note that some of them will need to be kept clear while the work is being carried out. The notice states works are scheduled for 3rd June until 4th June.

Sad to see that Silvanas in the Lion and Lamb Yard has now closed and the unit is currently up for let.

It’s always sad to see independent places arrive and then leave. With the summer months now fast approaching, it was such a nice spot to sit outside and while away a few hours over a coffee.

The public anger surrounding the youth sentencing case at Southampton Crown Court this week is completely understandable.

The details are horrifying. As someone who has worked in the justice system for over 30 years, I know the judge involved to be a very fair, highly capable, and good judge.

The law can only react to the damage after it is already done. The real failure happened years before this case reached the courtroom.

What we are seeing is a generation already deformed by a digital environment we refused to regulate. We have allowed smartphones and algorithmic social media to become a lawless wilderness where children are desensitised, detached from empathy, and exposed to things that distort their development entirely.

People used to look at social media as a distant problem, or something that only impacted "other people's kids." But the tide is turning. The panic is setting in because parents are realising that this toxic ecosystem is now likely to start hitting their own children, either as victims of digital weaponisation or as kids losing their humanity to a screen.

No wonder there is a growing, desperate call to ban social media for children entirely.

A courtroom cannot fix what society broke. Until we stop acting surprised by the inevitable consequences of how we fail to educate and protect some young people, and until we hold tech platforms accountable for the damage they are causing, individual families will continue to inherit the wreckage.

Having got completely disoriented at the Wisley Interchange, marked as an improvement, although I’m not too sure myself… or is it just me?!

I know we are all car drivers, but the bigger the roads, the bigger the traffic. The A3 heading towards the coast was absolutely jammed, so I darted off towards the A3 car boot at Ripley instead.

And I’m glad I did! I picked up a whole tray of lavender for just £2.00, which completely changed my mood. Driving back onto the A3 with the sweet smell of lavender in the car certainly helped calm the journey home.

Hot weather is wonderful really, I can’t moan when I think back to the terrible rain we had at the beginning of the year. It felt like it would never end.
