What could be lovelier than a reminder of a special stay blooming in your garden months later? 🌼

In each of our welcome baskets, we tuck in a little envelope of wildflower seeds and invite guests to plant them when they get home. It’s our way of sending a small piece of The Little House back with them.

So you can imagine our delight when a past guest, Trish, sent us these photos of the wildflowers now blooming beautifully in her garden. Seeing something that started here thriving so many miles away feels rather special.

Thank you for sharing them with us, Trish. We love knowing that a little reminder of peaceful days spent at The Little House is still bringing joy long after the holiday has ended. 🌿✨

Chronicles of Diglet the Badger Cub

Pudding appears to have spent some time on his appearance today, perfecting a rather fetching bouffant hair style and so is fully prepared for an evening of fun and frolics 🎉🥳

Unfortunately for him Mrs Badger and Diglet seem to have missed the memo about party night and are doing their very best to ignore his antics.

Sadly, Billy No Mates tonight Pudding but hopefully next time someone will join in.

What’s the hardest part of hosting a holiday let?

It isn’t always the cleaning, the laundry, or even the endless list of jobs behind the scenes.

It’s saying goodbye.

After hosting Geoff and Sue for two wonderful weeks, it was a bittersweet moment watching them drive away this morning. What started as guests arriving with suitcases quickly became friendly chats, shared stories, and seeing them truly settle into life at The Little House.

As hosts, nobody really tells you how attached you’ll become to some of the people who stay. You spend time making sure everything is just right, hoping they’ll have a relaxing break, and before you know it, they’re part of the rhythm of the place.

It was an absolute pleasure to host them, and we’re so grateful they chose to spend their holiday here. The cottage feels a little quieter today.

Safe travels, Geoff and Sue. You’ll be very welcome back anytime. ❤️

Who else had no idea there were wild ponies roaming the Devil’s Punch Bowl? 🐴🌿

One of Surrey’s best kept secrets has to be the beautiful ponies grazing across the Punch Bowl heathland and the best part is you can walk there straight from the cottage.

It’s one of our favourite local walks. Quiet woodland trails, huge open views, birds overhead, and then suddenly… ponies appearing amongst the heather. It feels a million miles from everyday life, yet it’s right here on the doorstep.

Perfect for a slow morning wander with the dog, a picnic stop, or an evening walk as the sun starts to dip across the valley.

Guests are always surprised this place exists less than an hour from London ✨

Have you spotted the ponies yet?

🏆 Employee of the Week: Lulu the Cockerel 🏆

(And yes, before anyone asks… we know Lulu is a boy now. We made an early administrative error when he hatched 🙈)

This week’s award goes to Lulu for outstanding service in the following areas:

🐔 Diplomatically resolving disputes between his ladies before they escalate into full-scale feathery warfare.

🐔 Demonstrating exemplary gentlemanly behaviour by finding tasty morsels and immediately offering them to his ladies before helping himself.

🐔 Showing remarkable patience and professionalism while dealing with the daily chaos created by Frank the runner duck, whose job description appears to consist entirely of causing trouble.

🐔 Maintaining constant vigilance against all potential threats, whether they are genuine dangers or a suspicious leaf moving in the breeze.

For dedication, selflessness, conflict resolution, and putting up with Frank, we salute you, Lulu.

👏 Employee of the Week and very good boy.

What’s the funniest difference you’ve noticed between Britain and America? 😂🇬🇧🇺🇸

We recently hosted some lovely American guests and ended up having several chats about the little differences between life in England and the USA. One conversation that made us giggle was about badgers 🤣

They said English badgers look like they’d invite you in for a cup of tea and scones in their quaint country cottage… while the American badger looks far more likely to drag you down a back alley and mug you to fund its drugs habit 😉😂

Now we can’t unsee it.

To be fair, our local badgers do seem very polite when they wander past the cottage at night 🦡

Less rush. More badgers.

Looking for a place where wildlife is part of the daily experience?

We’re always grateful for kind reviews, but this one genuinely made us smile:

“In short, this is heaven on earth.” 💛

From peaceful walks straight from the front door to evenings spent watching badgers, deer, foxes and countless birds, it’s wonderful to know our guests enjoyed everything that makes The Little House so special.

Nestled amongst fields and woodland in the Surrey countryside, it’s a place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being somewhere truly peaceful.

A huge thank you to our lovely guests for taking the time to share their experience. We loved hosting you and hope to welcome you back one day.

✨ Looking for somewhere that feels a little magical?
The Little House is a place where time slows down and the countryside wraps around you. A proper escape for couples who love comfort and nature in equal measure. It offers a truly unique badger watching experience right on your doorstep. It’s a rare and unforgettable glimpse into their secret world – a highlight that guests never forget. 🦡

Set in nine acres of fields, woodland, and illuminated landscaped gardens the cottage has been lovingly designed with care and attention to every detail. From the underfloor heating and wood-burning stove with unlimited supply logs to the welcome basket with our own eggs, honey, marshmallows for toasting and rich chocolate brownies everything here is done with thought and heart.

Outside, you’ll find your own enclosed, dog-secure garden with a veranda draped in festoon lights, perfect for sitting out long after sunset. There’s also a patio, BBQ and fire pit – all you need for slow mornings and starlit evenings. Beyond the garden, herons visit the wildlife pond, deer wander through the fields, red kites and buzzards drift overhead – it’s a nature lover’s dream. But the true magic starts as dusk falls, when you can watch badgers being fed just beyond the garden, or tune into our live badger cameras, streaming straight from nearby setts into the cottage. Your very own Nature Watch. 🦡

We’re hands-on hosts who genuinely care that your stay is as easy and relaxing as possible, nothing is ever too much trouble.
