On Friday past we had Macosquin P7S back with us. These kids are really starting to show the benefits of using our site as every time they arrive their smiles are getting bigger 😁

They were welcomed with some breakfast when they arrived to get them fuelled up for the day ahead which consisted of fishing and Archery. A very successful day all over and we look forward to the next session..

🌟 Five Years, Three Big Smiles, and a Spot of Fishing 🌟

We’re taking a moment to celebrate a very special milestone! For the past five years, The Honourable The Irish Society has been the backbone of our work at the Moorbrook site. They’ve provided more than just financial support, they’ve offered invaluable guidance and a helping hand at every turn

Last week, we finally got them on-site to say a proper thank you. We hosted Duane Farrell for a tour, complete with tea and scones ☕️🥮

Judging by the smiles in the photo of Duane, our Project Manager Chris Campbell, and our Chairperson Dr. Mark McKinney, the day was a huge success. Duane was incredibly impressed with the site and the impact our projects are having on children and young people

He even bumped into some of our Home Schooling community members who were out fishing. We’re pretty sure the fish were just waiting to show off for a VIP guest, as the activity level was top-tier! 🎣

Huge thanks to The Honourable The Irish Society for being such an incredible partner. Here’s to many more years of impact (and scones)!

Where does the time go. This day last week we had Macosquin PS P7s onsite again for another day of their 'Nurtured By Nature' program. We wish we could say the weather was kinder to us this time round but unfortunately not. Although as you can see from the video the children were ready to battle the elements this time round

On Tuesday 24th March we welcomed Ballysally Primary School to Moorbrook. What a brilliant bunch of kids they were. From the first minute they were invested in learning all about our site, with loads of questions being asked about the lakes, types of fish we had and even about our resident chickens 🐔🐓. The aim of today's session was to teach the basics of water safety, the basic fundamentals of pole fishing, fish handling and how to stay safe in an outdoor environment. We would be safe to say that all the kids enjoyed themselves as high fives were being given out by them all at the end of the session.

It has been a long winter here at the Moorbrook site with lots of work going on behind the scenes to keep us busy. But there's nothing we like more than getting the groups back on site and seeing everybody's smiley faces again 😊

Are you aged 9–17? Join us for a fun and educational series of five evening fishing sessions, running from 1st to 29th July, at Moorbrook Fishery, Ballyhackett, Castlerock — every Tuesday from 6–8pm.

Over the course, you’ll learn the basics of coarse angling, including how to land and safely handle a fish, all under the guidance of qualified NCFFI coaches.

Take the first steps toward a lifelong passion for angling, enjoy the social experience, and work towards earning your Angler Skills Level One certificate by the end of the programme.

All equipment is provided, and parents are welcome to attend.

We are very excited to announce the launch of our family day tickets at Moorbrook (Wednesday to Sunday from the 1st July)

Our fishing programmes for kids have been so successful, we wanted to provide more opportunities for young people to get in to fishing, and what better way to do that than a day out with the family

So here's the details 👇

🎣Pre-booking is essential - we need to get your equipment ready - weekends might be busier so we advise booking 48 hours in advance

🪙The cost is £40 per family with a maximum group size of four (based on two adults and two children under 16)

💸Cash payment on arrival

🐟Both equipment and bait are provided in the price

😊Our on-site experts will help you get started and will be available throughout the day should you need any help

⏰Your day ticket allows you to fish from 10.30am - 4.30pm

🦔You can bring your own snacks and lunch - Moorbrook provides a safe habitat for local wildlife so we kindly ask that you tidy up and take your rubbish home

🌳There is a beautiful nature walk, a play area and toilets on site so there's plenty to keep you busy and make the most of your time at Moorbrook
