Troon (Scottish Gaelic: An Truthail / An t-Sròn) is a town and sea port in South Ayrshire, situated on the west coast of Ayrshire in Scotland, about eight miles (thirteen kilometres) north of Ayr and three miles (five kilometres) northwest of Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Troon has a port with ferry and freight services, and a yacht marina.

Ardrossan Port Closure: 7 September - 8 October: To allow for essential harbour upgrade works at Ardrossan, MV Alfred and MV Caledonian Isles will operate a Troon-Brodick service between Monday 7 September to Thursday 8 October. There will be no sailings to/from Ardrossan during this period. Corrie Capers lives on!

Corrie Capers at The Corrie Hotel was a resounding success last weekend, with many of you coming from far and wide for Corrie Crufts, the Viking Games, and of course the Tug of War. Great to see you all there and congratulations to all the victors.

Between us, and with an additional top up from the Hotel, we raised £5,000 for two excellent causes: The Arran Music School's trip to NYC next year and The Arran Youth Foundations. Thank you also for the efforts behind the raffle, held jointly with the Corrie and Sannox Hall, which raised £780 of this amount. Thanks to all the Island businesses and volunteers who helped with this.

A great time was had by all, and this important village tradition was kept alive and well appreciated. Here's a photo dump from Corrie Crufts, the Viking Games and some of those who took part — if you've got photos from the day you'd like to share, drop them in the comments.

Friday 31st July — Tonight's the night!

Corrie Capers 2026 kicks off this evening and what a way to start.

First up, the family ceilidh at Corrie Hall from 5pm — get the dancing shoes on, all ages welcome, tickets on the door.

Then follow the sound of the pipes as Skirl Power lead the way to The Corrie Hotel for the flag raising — the moment Corrie Capers is officially open for 2026.

And then it's straight into the Viking Pub Quiz. £200 cash prize. Teams of up to six.

⏳ Not long to go to the main event of Corrie Capers - The Tug of War.

£500 to the winning team. £25 team entry, any combination of men, women or children, maximum weighed-in team weight 450kg. If you haven't got a team together yet, don't leave it too late.

Tonight the pipers play, the flag goes up and Corrie Capers 2026 is officially open — straight into the Viking Pub Quiz with £200 cash prize on the table. Teams of up to six, bookings recommended.

Saturday then builds from noon, Corrie Crufts, Viking Games with the Largs Viking Society, before the Tug of War takes centre stage. A fire pit with Drummerdoon playing from 7pm to close out the night.

All entry fees go to the Isle of Arran Music School — representing Scotland at the Tartan Day Parade in New York in 2027 — and the Arran Youth Foundation. The hotel is covering every penny of prize money and donating 10% of all food and drink sales on the day. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💪

This Saturday from 2pm, the Viking Games get underway in the beer garden at The Corrie Hotel — and the Largs Viking Society will be on hand to er.. set the bar higher this year. Three events: shield holding, keg carrying, frame hanging. £5 to enter, £100 cash prize per event. Men, women and children all welcome.

Since 2012 the number of young people aged 0-17 on Arran has fallen by 32%. That's why this year every entry fee goes straight to the Isle of Arran Music School and the Arran Youth Foundation. Come and compete for a good reason.

Arran Music School will be performing throughout the afternoon too — which gives you a very good idea of exactly what we're fighting for.

We absolutely LOVE dogs here in Corrie, so it's only fitting that we honour our four legged friends this Saturday at the canine event of the year, Corrie Crufts.
