Cwmbran Centre for Young People To provide the young people of Torfaen with the support and assistance they need to achieve their goal

Cwmbran Centre for Young People (‘CCYP’) is a friendly and welcoming ‘Training Facility and Drop in Centre’ for young people. We offer a wide range of training, services and activities to support young people to develop life skills and gain qualifications. CCYP particularly supports Young People who are unemployed, living alone or homeless, alcohol/drug dependent, young parents, carers or offender

s and/or have high levels of behavioural issues/emotional problems. The Centre provides recreational, educational and social activities, information and support including counselling and mentoring. When planning delivery of our Youth Work provision, we follow the seven core aims for children and young people provided by the Welsh Government adopted from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). We also ensure our provision is based upon the Five Pillars of Youth Work in Wales. (Provide learning opportunities that are Educative, Expressive, Participative, Inclusive and Empowering). OUR VISION:
Whatever you need, we’ll help you get it, whatever you want to achieve, we’ll help you do it and when you do, we’ll help you celebrate it! OUR MISSION:
To provide the Young People of Torfaen with the support and assistance they need to achieve their goals. Our Aims & Objectives:
Centre
• To create a Framework to meet the needs of all young people.
• To ensure equal opportunities.
• To enable participation in learning experiences which will enable young people to fulfill their potential as empowered individuals and members of groups and communities.
• To involve young people in part of the decision making process in the centre.
• To provide training/education for any young person and to support those who require support, guidance or personal development.
• To be aware of the health and development needs of staff and clients.

A massive thank you to Wesley Owen Cunliffe, who came into the centre on Friday to speak with our Seniors about the realities and risks surrounding county lines and knife crime.

The young people engaged really well throughout the session and took away some really important messages and knowledge.

Thank you again to Wes for taking the time to come in and speak with our young people. We hope to work together again soon! 😊

Tonight the Juniors put their engineering skills to the test with our Egg Drop Challenge 🥚🪂 followed by a Paper Aeroplane Competition ✈️

There was plenty of designing, building, testing and a few dramatic egg landings along the way 😂

Well done to everyone who got involved, and a huge congratulations to our winners! 🏆👏

Another brilliant Wednesday night with the Juniors 💙

📢 LOST PROPERTY

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had quite a few items left behind at the centre — and our lost property pile is getting a little out of hand 😅

Please could everyone share this post around so we can hopefully reunite everything with its owners!

If you recognise anything that belongs to you or your young person, please pop into the centre or send us a message to arrange collection.

⚠️ Any items that haven’t been collected within the next week will be donated where possible or disposed of.

Please have a look and help us work out whose is whose! 💙

Last night, the Juniors got stuck in — quite literally — making their own slime! 🧪😂

We’re not actually sure who enjoyed it more… the young people, the staff, or the volunteers! There was slime everywhere, plenty of laughs, and definitely a bit of mess.

But hey, messy play is important… right? 😅💙

Another busy evening with the Seniors! 💙

Tonight, the young people got creative with DIY bedazzled sunglasses 😎✨, made their own flatbread pizzas 🍕 and had a go with kinetic sand — alongside plenty of our usual games, laughs and other activities throughout the evening.

Safe to say the sunglasses weren’t the only things that got bedazzled… the entire centre is now wearing a lovely layer of glitter. ✨😂

🚀🌌 Tonight the Juniors blasted off into outer space! 👽✨

The young people got creative by designing and making their very own clay aliens before taking on our “Try New Foods” Bingo challenge, stepping out of their comfort zones and discovering some new flavours along the way!

We also celebrated Ellie’s 25th birthday! 🥳🎂 Ellie has been volunteering with CCYP for many years, and we’re so grateful for everything she does. We’re so glad you chose to celebrate your special day with us. We hope you have the best birthday! 💙

It was another fantastic evening full of creativity, laughter and lots of fun. We can’t wait to see everyone back next Wednesday for more adventures at CCYP! 🚀

Important Update for Our Senior Sessions 💙

As many of you already know, this Friday will be our final Senior Session for young people aged 18 and over.

From next week, our Senior Sessions will be for young people under the age of 18 only, as we make changes to help us maintain safeguarding and ensure we can continue providing the best possible support.

To celebrate our amazing 18+ young people and thank them for being such a big part of CCYP, we’re ending this chapter with a Movie & Pyjama Night for those aged 16+. 🎬🍿 So grab your comfiest pyjamas and come and join us for one last evening together.

This isn’t goodbye! Youth work doesn’t stop at 18. We continue to support young people up to the age of 25. If you’re 18 or over and would like support, advice, or even just a chat, simply send us a message on our page before you come in. We’ll arrange a time for you to pop in, make sure a member of staff is available, and have a cup of tea waiting for you. ☕💙

Thank you to every one of our 18+ young people who has been part of our Senior Sessions. We look forward to continuing to support you in this new way.💙

Tonight marks Declan’s last shift with us at CCYP.

Dec, watching you grow and develop over the years has been incredible. The impact you’ve had on so many young people’s lives won’t be forgotten, and the way you’ve always advocated for them has been a real inspiration to everyone around you.

Your passion for youth work has always shone through in everything you do, especially with your Alternative Education work. You’ve made a genuine difference, and that’s something to be incredibly proud of.

We wish you nothing but the very best in your next chapter. Your future young people and colleagues are incredibly lucky to have you, just as we have been.

Don’t be a stranger – you’ll always be welcome at CCYP. We’ll miss you, Dec!

Today we took a trip to Barry with our JGW+ learners, Alternative Education learners and volunteers to say thank you for all of their hard work and commitment throughout the year.

From soaking up the sunshine and paddling in the sea to exploring the rock pools and making a few rather crabby new friends, it was a fantastic day enjoyed by everyone. ☀️🦀🌊

A well-deserved day out to celebrate everything they have achieved this year. We can’t wait to see what the next year brings!
