The lodge now has views of our badly shorn ewes 😅 It took me 4 days to shear 15 sheep, with the last one loosing her fleece in over 30 degrees of heat. Only one kicker, the rest were either too hot to fight, or were relieved to have their jackets off. Tufts and tendrils will be removed when I have regained some degree if feeling in my right hand 🤦‍♀️

Here we go again. With soaring temperatures forecast, I started the arduous task of shearing our 'huge' flock on Friday. Abi 'Abcess' has 3 lambs on her. Sq**rt has been topped up with the bottle, but she has been milking all three. Not only has her body score dropped, which is to be expected, but her fleece was in shocking condition. Poor girl looks like I've sheared her with a knife and fork. I always vow to tidy the worst of my efforts up, but then again she's a girl after my own heart 'comfort over fashion' 😁

It looks like our forthcoming guests have booked the most perfect bank holiday weekend. Forecast is for wall to wall sunshine, with temperatures of near 30 degrees. And doesn't the coppice look pretty in the dappled sunlight.

Always nice to see a returning visitor 😉 We did have a doe and fawn in the 'ridge and furrow' field a couple of years ago. I wonder if she is hiding a little bambino in the tall grass again this year 🤔

We are looking forward to welcoming our guests to the lodge over the next few days. With back to back bookings, it's certainly going to be a busy weekend. Everything looks perfect today, with bright skies, dappled sunlight, and lazy lambs. It's a shame there is thunder in the forecast, but dare I say, we are desperate for some rain 😏

This little fellas chances go from 50:50 to 60:40, 70:30, 40:60, 20:80, 50:50, 30:70, and now I think we're maybe at 50:50. This is the first time I've seen him on Mom. He's been on the bottle for so many days I thought she'd reject him, so this is a huge win. But he's still very poorly. Mom has one quarter; he has fluid on the lungs and last night, a bit of bloat (all of which he has been treated for). Safe to say he's driving me mad!

On the bright side, the triplets are doing well. I thought the little sq**rt was going to be the only pet, but he's found the teat and gets stuck in.

Well, so much for a strong pair of lambs 🙁 I noticed Molly had developed mastitis in one 'quarter' (techincally one side of the udder) and so this little fella's colostrum intake, and immunity was compromised. He had 'wet mouth' so had to be given antibiotics and tubed with electrolytes for 24 hours, before powdered colostrum could be reintroduced. He started to get stronger, before rapidly down hill. I popped him under a lamp when Storm David was upon us. He does seem a bit brighter today, but we're not out of the woods yet! I thought my middle night visits to the lambing shed were over, but apparently not 😴
