Our mission.

We know. Missions are a bit, well, corporate. And that's what we're trying to get away from. But they serve a purpose and we wanted to keep ours front and centre to help guide our decisions and focus our work here on the farm.

When we left our careers and moved to a farm in the Peak District, we had an idea of the life we wanted: slower, more connected to our home, ourselves, each other and the area we live in. Altogether more considered. What we didn't expect was how much we'd want to share it. The rebrand isn't just a new name. It's the version of this place that finally looks like how it feels.

This is where it all began.

Mood boards, references, conversations about what this place actually feels like to be in. We focussed on what makes us happy. The area's rolling hills. Worn-in boots by the door telling a story about a great day out with the dogs. A lane that leads somewhere good 9usually a great local pub!). And the animals. The new brand was built from images like these. Drawn directly from the life we've made here.

A closer look at the brand taking shape.

Elderfold is the name that holds it all together: Stay.

The name comes from two things. The elder tree: native to the British countryside, found in hedgerows and field margins, generous with its flowers in spring and its berries in autumn. In English folklore, elder was long associated with protection: boughs placed in stable and byre doorways, crosses hung above barns to watch over the animals within. For a farm built around the care of rescued animals, that felt fitting. And the fold: an old English word for a sheepfold, the enclosure where a flock is kept. A place of shelter. A place of belonging.

Elderfold is therefore, us. A farm that protects and a place that gathers. Both, at once.

The farm has always been at the heart of what we do.

Every animal here has a story. Some are rescued, rehomed, and given space to simply be. Some are fostered, rehabilitated, given love and care for the first time and when ready, they go to their new permanent homes. And some are born here.

The illustration you're seeing is part of the new Booth Farm branding, drawn to capture the warmth and love we have for every one of them. Alongside it, a sneak peak of a photograph from the farm where we caught our "guard geese" one morning doing exactly what geese do. That combination of the considered and the real is what Elderfold is about.

And considered. Because every choice we make, from how we run the cottages and the products in them to the way we farm, reflects a care for this place and the people and animals who call it home.
