Firs Riverside B&B - Ironbridge, Shropshire

We have recently refurbished The Firs to make this lovely building a pleasure to stay in once again. alk from the main street in Ironbridge and another couple of minutes to the famous Iron Bridge itself. Although we are just a short distance from the centre of Ironbridge, we believe you will feel like you are away from it all. There is a herd of deer that can sometimes be seen just across the river, along the tracks running through the trees, this side of the power station. They do visit our grounds occasionally, leaving hoof prints and other signs they have visited, but not usually if they sense that people are about. There are trains running every day in view from the garden taking the containers full of wood to be burnt to generate electricity at the Ironbridge Power Station. We have reasonable parking facilities on site on a first come first served basis. We will ask if you have any special requirements on booking; so please let us know so we can make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you are walking from the Firs to Ironbridge village centre, you will walk through a lovely riverside park, with flower beds and neat, well-maintained paths right through to the Merrythought Teddy Bear factory. Merrythought Village is now home to a number of unique businesses that compliment the original site. These businesses include Merrythought Ltd, Ironbridge Fine Arts and Framing, Ironworkers of Ironbridge, Admaston Firecraft Centre Ltd, Ironbridge Brewery, Jardine Leisure, Ironbridge Scenic River Cruises, Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust Teddy Bear Shop and Crystal Labyrinth. The historic towns of Shrewsbury, Bridgenorth, Ludlow and Whitchurch are all a short ride away. Cosford Aerospace Museum and the Severn Valley Railway are popular destinations. Stokesay Castle is said to be “quite simply the finest and best preserved fortified medieval manor house in England.”

There are many local fishing pools for fishermen and fisherwomen to explore and enjoy. Here at the Firs we have full fishing rights into the River Severn at the riverside of our property, which our guests may fish for free during their stay with us.
