INFORMATION ON DRIVING IN THE OUTER HEBRIDES

Driving in the islands is different to the mainland and even other islands so here are a couple of top tips for anyone visiting:
- watch out for sheep, cattle, deer and any other animals that may be on the road
- If a car is behind you and unable to pass on double track, pull over where possible to allow them to overtake
- passing places are to allow oncoming cars to pass AND to allow cars behind to overtake. Please be aware of road users that may be behind you
- Island folk like to wave. If you pull over for someone or they do for you, give them a wee wave 😉

Other wildlife seen on Machair in Bloom in 2021 included numerous Short-eared Owls, Golden Eagle, White-tailed Eagle, Hen Harrier, Black-throated Diver, Avocet and a couple of encounters with otters.

'Downpour Detours'
Alasdair MacEachen, a local history expert pictured above, is kicking off some great new guided walks around the Nunton, Aird and Culla Bay area. Soak up the rich history of the area, get an insight into crofting and the natural environment.

First summer dates are Mon 5th July, Tues 6th July and Wed 7th July. The walks are approx 2 hours for up to 6 people, £10/person meeting at Nunton Steadings at 2pm or 7.30pm and can be carried out in English, Gaelic or both. (Longer daytime Benbecula walks are also available by request to the Rossinish area approx 5 hours £20/person.)

We’re very excited to be able to share our 🎉 big news 🎉 with you all…

We have made a pretty special purchase - investing in a brand new distillery building that we will soon call home.

We’ve fallen in love with the gorgeous Nunton Steadings. She’s got character, charm and beautiful old cobbled floors. We're looking forward to starting our whisky 🥃 production here and we hope to welcome all of you as visitors in the near future.
