🌎 How naked is South America?

☀️ Paris when it sizzles…

If you’re looking to escape the summer heat of the French capital - and enjoy a little more freedom while you’re at it - head to the shady naturist enclave of the Espaces Naturiste in the Bois de Vincennes.

It’s currently the only designated outdoor naturist space in Paris, but that could soon change. The Collectif Naturiste Urbain (CNU), which operates the site, is campaigning for a second naturist area in the Bois de Boulogne.

And there’s more… CNU is keen to offer ad hoc workshops at Bois de Vincennes, and is looking for yoga teachers, artists, photographers and other creatives who’d like to share their skills. 🌳

📱So, is H&E finally uncensored?

That was the intriguing question posed by a regular reader recently: now that the magazine is digital-only, does that mean the end of censorship?

For years, our front covers have had to play a ridiculous game of hide-and-seek - carefully positioned bodies, towels, props or conveniently-worded headlines drafted in to conceal breasts and ge****ls, simply because the magazine had to sit on a shop shelf.

So, surely going digital changes everything? Well… yes and no. 🤷

We still need Facebook, Instagram and other social platforms to promote H&E. And their approach to nudity can be, frankly, baffling.

One image gets removed. Another seemingly identical one stays up. A perfectly innocent naturist photograph can apparently be deemed unacceptable, while the internet remains awash with content that makes you wonder who, exactly, is writing the rules. 🤔

We’ve long since stopped pretending we can predict what the social-media giants will object to next. When the rules are inconsistent, opaque and seemingly arbitrary, the safest strategy is to play it safe. But here’s the good news.

Inside H&E, we remain free to show naturism as it really is. Natural nudity. Real people. Genuine naturist settings. No strategically positioned plant, towel or headline required.

So while the social-media gatekeepers may still have their say about what we put on their platforms, they don’t get to decide what naturism looks like inside our pages. ✊

At least, not yet. And perhaps that’s the real question:

🔓 How long can a magazine about naturism remain genuinely uncensored in an increasingly censorious digital world?

Ever thought about writing naturist fiction? You’re not alone.

The N**e & Happy blogger has been a regular contributor to H&E for a while now, and as he says: “I have spent years explaining what naturism is, what it is not, how to begin, how to go to a n**e beach, how to feel less nervous, how to understand the atmosphere, how to move from fear to ease. I am proud of that work. I am grateful for it. I know it has helped people. And I’ll continue to do it.”

But now he is also branching out: into naturist fiction.

“It’s incredibly inspiring, ” he enthuses. “I am full of stories where naturism fits naturally. Stories set in naturist and non-naturist spaces, in conversations, tensions, friendships, mysteries, awkward moments, tender moments, and all the human situations that become different when naturism is part of life.

“Advice can help people. Stories can stay with them. Advice can explain naturism. Stories can let people inhabit a world where naturism is simply there, woven into life, into relationships, into atmosphere, into character. That is the writing I want to do more of now.”
