This is approx 10 mins drive from us and can recommend if you want to experience the lake as a family. 🛶⛵️🏞

Nestled on the shore of Derwentwater, there's a place called Nichol End, where the only thing larger than your smile will be the scone on your plate!
If you like lake views, great coffee and homemade baking, you'll love our cafe.
If you like having fun on the water, you'll love our boat hire - paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, rowing boats and sailing dinghies.

Whinlatter will be closed today Thursday 12 March due to high winds for which there is a yellow weather warning in place.

Forests can be highly dangerous places during stormy weather due to risks from falling trees, flying debris, and unstable, saturated ground. As such we are asking you to delay your visit until the weather eases.

We aim to re-open on Friday as soon as it is safe to do so, once our team have had the opportunity to check that the forest is safe. Please do check back here for further updates.

Our self catering cottage (sleeps 6), on our 3rd generation traditional lakeland farm, situated up the Newlands Valley, between Braithwaite and Buttermere, surrounded by Fells, is ideal for exploring or just soaking up the views.

Ample parking right outside the door means no worry of space, some guests have been known to bring their canoes!

Keswick with all the attractions, shops, cafes and a wide variety eating options is 15 mins drive.

Penrith (J40 of M6) is only 40 mins drive so we are easily accessible regardless of your location.
