Deerhound Cottage is a self-catering, dog friendly, holiday cottage situated in the beautiful, tranquil village of Kirkmichael in rural South Ayrshire on the South West Coast of Scotland. It can sleep up to five people within three bedrooms; 1 double room, 1 twin room and 1 single room. The cottage has a
n open plan living/dining area complete with a wood burning stove (wood provided) which is perfect for relaxing beside to read or you can watch a film on the Smart TV. The country style kitchen with featured open beams has a large range cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster and a good selection of utensils and dishes. There is oil central heating, double glazing and all bedding and towels are provided. Outside in a large secure gated garden and access to a timber shed which is perfect for use as a dog 'dry off' area or as secure storage for bikes/golf/walking equipment etc. We know how difficult it can be to find holiday accommodation which offers quality and comfort for both you and your dogs, especially if you have more than one or they don't fit the small category! We own two Scottish Deerhounds who are always looking for playmates and love their home comforts, so all sizes of dogs are welcome to stay. There is also a BBQ and some outdoor seating available to use weather permitting. Within close walking distance of Deerhound Cottage is a football pitch with play park, a community run village shop with tearoom, woodland walks, a church and the village pub, The Kirkmichael Arms, where you can enjoy delicious lunches/bar suppers, real ales, a good selection of wines & malts and added bonus of a dog friendly bar. Deerhound Cottage is the perfect base for a variety of outdoor activities. For golfers, Turnberry, Prestwick, Ayr & Troon courses are all within 30mins drive. For cyclists, the hill roads surrounding Kirkmichael and the South Carrick area make up the ultimate playground and it's popularly referred to as the 'Ayrshire Alps' due to the terrain, fantastic scenery and cycle friendly roads. Exploring South Ayrshire can offer both the hills and the sea with hillwalking and great dog walks in the local Galloway Forest. You could take a trip to the lovely coastal villages of Dunure and Maidens and wander around the spectacular Culzean Castle & Country Park which are all within 20mins drive. The town of Ayr is 12 miles away and has a lovely beach, Robert Burns Cottage & Museum, a variety of shops, bars and restaurants, an Odeon cinema, Leisure Centre and 10-Pin Bowling Alley. Trains and buses run to Glasgow from Ayr approx every half hour and only take 50mins. Prestwick Airport is 15 miles away, Glasgow 50 miles and Edinburgh 75 miles.
