A Taste of Wensleydale and West Burton Village Shop & Tea Room are two dog friendly tea shops close to South View Cottage Wensleydale Ice Cream also allow dogs and the food at all of them is delicious 🍰🍪🍦🍩🥮🍨🥧🍞🥖

A beautiful 9 mile circular walk to do when staying at South View Cottage

Muker to Keld Circular Walk | Waterfalls, Wild Valleys & the River Swale

Rushing waterfalls, peaceful riverside paths and sweeping Swaledale views—this walk has it all.

Following the River Swale between Muker and Keld, the route winds past dry-stone walls, grazing sheep and some of the finest scenery in the Yorkshire Dales. It’s one of those walks that feels special from beginning to end.

I have never seen Gayle Beck so low, but still beautiful and a lovely easy circular walk from Hawes.

Gayle Beck might be running pretty dry, but it’s still a cracking little corner of Wensleydale.

With the water pulled back, the limestone bed and little stepped falls really come into their own as the beck runs through Gayle towards Hawes. Add the old stone buildings, greenery and a bit of summer colour and there’s still plenty going on even without much water.

One of those quieter places Northern Perspectives loves finding between the bigger landmarks.
