Make sure to tick off this checklist every time you head out on your adventures!
Due to our sites being private land, your ability to have a fire during your stay depends on the landowners preferences and local guidance.
Some sites offer firepits, some require you to bring your own, some don’t allow them at all.
You can check your sites permissions on our website and your booking confirmation.

A site that was wet in May, could be extremely dry by mid-July.
Make sure to check the weather forecast before packing your BBQ or firewood.
Local areas often publish a wildfire risk rating in summer. If the rating is high, consider the risks and ensure you have everything you need to camp safely.
Fill your water bottles before you light.
When putting fires out, ensure it is extinguished properly and there are no embers still alight.
Survey the area around your planned fire to make sure there is no low hanging vines or branches - ensure your fire is in the designated area on-site.
Long grass may pose a risk if it surrounds the fire.
If there are high winds, do not light a fire - the wind can carry small embers and is too high a risk in this dry summer heat.
Keeping the fire to a reasonable size greatly reduces the risk of spreading and causing larger fires.
A smaller fire enhances the atmosphere, warmth and lighting just like a large fire, but with a fraction of the risk instead
