I've been back in Australia for 2 weeks today and my weekend has been jampacked filled with Guiding. As I sit in the shade with a couple of girls who have had enough of the sun and salt water already I am glad to be back in the country I love doing the thing I love.

Yesterday saw a 3 hour train trip to Ballarat with one of our units 11 year olds to partake in the State Enviroment Day. She took part in activities run by Parks Victoria, Fisheries Victoria and the Waterways learning how to take care of the environement and fish responsibly.

Today saw me take 4 girls with the rest of our district to the Guide & Scout Water Activity Centre where they have spent a day sailing, canoeing, paddleboarding, and swimming- generally just having a fantastic time.

I love the opportunities our organisation gives girls - the constant learning, challenges and fun.

Happy International Womens day to my friends and family across the globe.

Being a member of the worlds largest female only community organisation means that each and every day I see the difference young women can make in the world - and the power of voices united.

We are a force for change, and force for good and the bricklayers of the future.

And as our sisters across the world fight to end child marriage, gender pay gaps, domestic violence, FGM and the education gap between boys and girls we join together to celebrate that sisterhood and strength.

Today, on my last day as Programme Intern at Pax Lodge, Tadeja and I suprise gifted the Events/Programme office at the WAGGGGS World Bureau with this beautiful tree.

An Ode to the Movement:

I’ve been think quite a bit lately,

Of the places that I’ve been

And I’ve been thinking quite a lot,

Of all the faces that I’ve seen.

And as I sit and contemplate

The friends that I have made,

And ponder the paths I’ve wandered,

The flag that guides my way,

I’ve found inside a deep gratitude

For the thing that made this real

The movement that brought it to me

And how happy it’s made me feel.

For Girl Guiding is not just a thing

For once a week in that small hall,

It’s so much more than all of that,

And I’ll try and list it all:

Girl Guiding is adventures,

Those both near and far;

Girl Guiding is the life skills,

And learning to cook in a jar;

Girl Guiding is the advocacy,

Standing up for those with less;

Girl Guiding is equality,

And always striving for my best.

Girl Guiding is the curiosity,

To always question why?

Girl Guiding is stretching my limits,

And aiming for the sky.

Girl Guiding is the hope that shines

Out of every girls bright face;

Girl Guiding is Peace we strive for,

Equality in every race;

Girl Guiding is the friendship,

And the family I’ve found;

Today is World Thinking Day. Today is also the day I got a card and a letter from 2 of my Guides. I am officially feeling the love and well caught up on the ins and outs of home.

My girls are gorgeous.

What an amazing thing it is to be part of such a gigantic family world wide with the 10 million sisters wearing the trefoil proudly, and the 20 million cousins wearing the fleur de lis.

WAGGGS and WOSM remain movements of change and growth, promoters of compassion, curiosity, citizenship and equality.

To know you are part of a global family that continually strives for a better world is really something.

Happy Thinking Day to all my friends from Pax Lodge. Guiding and Scouting has brought us together - but the strength of friendship shall keep it so.
