Champing™ – a unique opportunity to stay somewhere truly extraordinary
The Churches Conservation Trust has done some pretty cool stuff before, but making Champing™ into an actual Thing has to take even the biscuitiest of biscuits. We have surprised and delighted people all over the world with a very simple idea: a new use for beautiful ancient churches.

Our furry friends deserve a holiday too 💚🐕

Leaving your dog at home when you go on holiday feels like leaving a part of you behind – they are members of the family after all!

Plenty of our Champing churches are dog friendly, so just let us know that they will be coming along too when you make your booking.

Back in 2016, when Champing first started, we didn’t host any dogs during that first season.

However, in 2026 we've hosted 66 dogs (for free!) so far, but we've got bookings for 108 dogs across the whole season!

🤔 Want a ready-made itinerary? ✨️ Here's our idea of a perfect stay at Sibford Meeting House:

🚙 Arrive from 4pm on the first day of your stay.

🚴‍♂️ Spend the afternoon exploring the beautiful Cotswolds countryside (there are plenty of circular walks to choose from).

🍻 For your evening meal, the Wykham Arms is just across the road.

⛪️ Then, enjoy your peaceful night of sleep in the Meeting House!

🎭️ In the morning, catch the bus (the 75A) to Stratford Upon Avon to get your Shakespeare fix.

🏰 Alternatively, travel in the other direction to Banbury, and visit Broughton Castle.

👇️ Let us know where else you would recommend visiting!

Last month, our Communications Manager, Chana James, was interviewed by Jo Good on BBC Radio to discuss the Champing experience.

Chana played a huge role in the creation of the Champing experience 10 years ago, making her an expert in the background and overall experience of a Champing stay.

Last week, St Andrew's Church in Rollestone, Wiltshire was the victim of heritage crime.

We know how much our guests value Rollestone's unique charm and proximity to Stonehenge, and we sincerely apologise to anyone whose plans have been temporarily disrupted.

Unfortunately, incidents like this are becoming increasingly common. Research from the Museums Association (2025) found that 40% of heritage sites have experienced intentional damage.

As an initiative of Churches Conservation Trust, we are dedicated to protecting historic churches like St Andrew's and ensuring they remain accessible for future generations.

If you would like to support the church's recovery and ongoing conservation, please consider making a donation:
