Soho has never been short of colourful residents but none were quite as notorious as the Duke of Monmouth. Once the darling of Soho Square, the renegade Duke led a doomed rebellion against his uncle, King James II which resulted in his beheading in 1685.

Luckily the only drama in his suite at Hazlitt’s comes courtesy of the majestic bath, filled with water from the beak of a life-sized eagle.

The honesty bar is open. Though in fairness, she never really closes.
