I woke up on my birthday to find my flight to Barbados was delayed by more than three hours. The aircraft had already been switched from Virgin’s new A330-900neo to an older A330-300.

Not the ideal start.

But from the moment I arrived at the Upper Class Wing, Virgin Atlantic made it one of the better flights I’ve had. Four birthday greetings before I even boarded. Birthday cake and champagne in the Royal Box at half past eight in the morning. And once airborne, dinner at the bar on G-VRAY Miss Sunshine.

The bar is one of the best things about Upper Class on the A330-300 — and it’s disappearing as these aircraft are retired.

Old plane. Late flight. Brilliant crew. The full review is now on the Doors to Automatic YouTube channel — link in bio.

This screenshot is straight from delta.com. Two flights, same route, same dates — LHR to JFK, August, Premium cabin. A difference of £1,329.

The cheaper one is operated by Virgin Atlantic.

It’s one of the most striking findings from the full five-airline Premium Economy comparison, which goes live on YouTube next Friday.

Same route. Same weekend. Same cabin class. London to New York, Premium Economy — priced this week across three booking windows.

The spread is wider than you might expect. One airline is consistently double the price of another for a comparable seat on the same route.

The full five-airline comparison goes live on YouTube next Friday — including scores across eight categories, a full pricing breakdown, and some codeshare findings that are worth knowing before you book.

🎬 PREMIERING TODAY at 12pm BST

I had a completely free Saturday in Singapore — so I booked two Singapore Airlines Business Class flights in a single day.

Same route. Same airline. Two completely different aircraft.

Outbound on an Airbus A350-900. Return on a Boeing 787-10. By the end of the day I knew which one I’d actually want to fly — and the answer surprised me.

Singapore Airlines Business Class 2026 — A350 vs 787-10 — Which One Wins? premieres today at noon. Link in bio.
