Here at Vinegar Hill we can offer you fabulous B&B accommodation as well as the chance to learn how to throw a pot on the potters wheel. Our one day pottery course experience gets your creative juices flowing as well as satisfying your stomach with a delicious home cooked sit down lunch ( at lots of tea and cake in the morning!). We also have a gallery of Dave's work which ranges from mugs and jug

s to large one off pieces and hand thrown basins. We are situated a few minutes walk from the beach, just on the outskirts of the New Forest National Park so whether you are filling your day making pots, or just using us as a base to explore the area, there is a huge amount to see and do here.

With demonstrations from Dave and plenty of hands-on guidance at the wheel, you’ll be supported every step of the way as you develop your throwing skills.

We have a small number of places remaining on our summer 3-Day Raku Pottery Courses, so for our next four bookings, anyone bringing a friend can give them 20% off their course fee.

Spend three inspiring days learning from master potter Dave Rogers, enjoying chef-prepared lunches and taking part in a spectacular raku firing on the final day.

Have you met Queenie? 💙

Nestled right beside the pottery and filled with original pieces alongside our handmade pottery touches, this beautifully restored wagon offers a unique place to stay whilst attending one of our courses.

We recently had a guest stay in Queenie during our three-day pottery course and they loved having the studio just a few steps away. Not only could they enjoy a peaceful evening in the wagon, but they were also able to make the most of the extra studio access and continue working on their pieces after the day’s teaching had finished.

If you’re travelling from further afield or simply want to fully immerse yourself in pottery for a few days, Queenie makes the perfect creative retreat.

The most relaxing way to start the week 💙

If Monday has hit a little hard and you’re already looking forward to some time to switch off, why not join us for a day of pottery throwing this weekend?

Two last-minute spaces have become available on this Saturday’s course, making it the perfect opportunity to slow down, get creative and try something new.

Happy bank holiday ☀️

We hope you’ve all enjoyed a day to relax in the sunshine just as much as we have.

This bespoke order has been firing away in the kiln (powered with the incredible help of our solar panels) and we can’t wait to get back into the studio tomorrow to unload it and see the finished results!

Glazing is one of the most satisfying parts of the pottery process, especially up close.

This glaze has been mixed very thinly to remain transparent on the pots, allowing all of the fine details underneath to show through.

Sometimes the most subtle finishes have the biggest impact. 💙

You all loved the images of our two tone plates earlier this week, so here’s a look at how they’re made! 💙

Each one is hand thrown on the wheel before being carefully glazed with a soft white centre and our signature woodfire glaze around the edge. No two can ever be glazed exactly the same, making every piece completely unique.
