A small detail, but one we love 🧵
We’ve added a new tablecloth in a traditional Welsh tapestry pattern to The Granary.
These designs date back to the 18th and 19th centuries, when local mills wove thick woollen blankets to keep homes warm through long Welsh winters.
The repeating geometric patterns and earthy tones are inspired by the landscape around us — moss, stone, slate and sunset.
We already had the same pattern in a softer cream on the cushions, so it’s lovely to bring it through in a slightly bolder way here.
It’s a quiet nod to the craft and heritage of this area, woven into everyday life ✨

🌲 Where the Forest Breathes Above the Village

High above the village, the Dyfi Forest gathers you in — a quiet world of light and shadow where time seems to loosen its grip. The paths wind gently between tall trunks, their branches whispering overhead, guiding you deeper into the stillness.

Sunlight pours through the canopy in soft, golden beams, catching on moss, warming the earth, turning the simplest moment into something almost enchanted. Every step feels unhurried. Every breath a little easier.

Here, the valley opens beneath you, the hills rise around you, and the forest wraps itself like a calm around your shoulders. It’s a place to wander, to pause, to listen — to feel the land breathing, steady and ancient.

🪨 Crawiau — The Slate Fences of Gwynedd

If you’ve walked the lanes and fields around Corris and Aberllefenni, you’ll have spotted these striking upright slabs of slate lining the landscape. Locally, they’re known as crawiau — traditional slate fences unique to the old quarrying valleys of Gwynedd.

Built by standing slate pieces vertically in the earth, crawiau were a practical solution in a place where slate was plentiful and timber was scarce. Over time they’ve become part of the character of the land — weathered, moss‑covered, and full of quiet history.

You’ll find them edging fields, marking old boundaries, and guiding paths through the hills. Each one is a reminder of the craftsmanship and resourcefulness of the communities who lived and worked here.

A small detail — but one that makes this corner of Mid Wales feel truly special.
