** Leisure battery failure **

This leisure battery had the potential to cause a significant problem and a serious safety hazard to the owners. Straight away it was very obvious that the body of this battery had deformed due to an internal failure.

As part of the annual service inspection the leisure battery is inspected and a health check is carried out.

The fitting, type of battery, location of battery, charging issues and many other factors are to be considered when discussing leisure batteries. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this issue please don’t hesitate to contact me and I’ll take you through the “do’s and don’ts”. 👍🏻

Caravan 230v (DIY) wiring safety issues…

During annual service inspections, one of the many elements inspected and tested is the electrical system. And in recent weeks these inspections have identified some DIY installations that are NOT to standard.

Wiring systems:

BS 7671:2018 requires all LV wiring cables in caravans and motorhomes to be a minimum 250v grade. This means that the insulation on each conductor must be capable of carrying electric current at 250v. Cables used for caravan wiring must be flexible (NOT RIGID), flexible 3-core cable 1.5mm2 minimum conductor size should be used.

The attached pictures are an example of what NOT TO DO OR USE.

If you require any electrical work, or additional sockets fitting, please contact a trained professional within the leisure industry.

Alde Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV)

If you are concerned about the temperature of your hot water in your caravan or motorhome, this TMV by Alde is a great solution.

The Alde TMV can be installed to any hot water outlet in your caravan or motorhome, but probably the one where it’s most useful is the shower. It’s factory set to 41°C but can be adjusted to suit, and once fitted will give a stable water temperature and help prevent scalding.
