""A perfect, quiet, friendly site for exploring beautiful Exmoor National Park. Beautiful panoramic views (to Selworthy, the sea and to S Wales beyond) and sunsets; well kept field; very clean tidy and organised facilities; perfect location with some of the best parts of Exmoor walkable from the campsite; lovely quaint villages nearby. Our 5th visit to a Greener Camping Club site - and definitely our favourite to which we shall return. Very highly recommended!" 10/10 Review from Paul.

Some 10/10 reviews from recent campers:
"Super relaxing site with great walks from the site through woodland - and with tea shops en route… Great views too. So quiet at night, just heard the odd hoot of an owl and very dark skies -stars were amazing! Loved it and will definitely aim to revisit!"

"Amazing little spot with a gorgeous view, has everything you need and in good condition too. Not a far drive from Minehead for essentials (food etc.) and not a far drive to many beaches. And you are surrounded by many great spots to walk. Being in the heart of a dark sky reserve makes for spectacular star gazing….Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a camping getaway."

Porlock Vale Campsite is open until the end of September. We look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful space, with incredibly spacious pitches, stunning views all around and peace and quiet. No open fires, firepits, BBQa or disposable BBQs at the moment. Let's do everything we can to protect our precious space - and hope for some rain soon.

🔥 Please stop lighting fires. 🔥

We're continuing to receive reports of fires & BBQs being lit across our sites in Somerset. Fire Risk is extremely high at the moment

These special places are home to rare wildlife, grazing livestock, nationally important habitats and people's homes. A campfire, fire pit or disposable BBQ might seem harmless, but it only takes a single spark to start a wildfire that can devastate nature in minutes.

If you see a fire, call 999 immediately and ask for Fire & Rescue. Early reporting can make all the difference.

🙏 Please help us spread the word by sharing this message. Thank you for helping us care for these special places.

The amazing partial solar eclipse take place tomorrow early evening, Wed 12 August!

Don't forget to catch the deep partial solar eclipse covering between 90% and 96% of the sun tomorrow evening (Wed) from around 6.10pm.

Plus, the deep partial eclipse coincides with the peak of the annual Perseid meteor shower — meaning if you stay out after dark on Exmoor you could catch shooting stars!

Wild Fire Risk - Local Advice: Protect Exmoor: Help Prevent Moorland Fires. Please do not discard ci******es, matches, or smoking materials on the moor. Even a small spark can ignite dry grass, heather, and vegetation, causing serious wildfires that threaten wildlife, livestock, property, and people.

Disposable barbecues, fire pits, campfires, and any open flames should not be used on the moor. Conditions can change quickly, and fires can spread rapidly across open countryside.

You can help keep Exmoor safe by:

· Taking all litter home with you.

· Fully extinguishing and safely disposing of smoking materials.

· Not using barbecues, campfires, or open flames.

· Reporting any signs of fire immediately by calling 999 and asking for the Fire Service.

Discarding ci******es, lighting campfires, or using disposable BBQs on Exmoor can have serious consequences. If your actions cause a fire, you may face prosecution, substantial fines, and in the most serious cases a prison sentence. Landowners and emergency services may also seek to recover costs where appropriate. Wildfires can destroy wildlife habitats, endanger livestock, damage property, and put lives at risk.

Think before you light it. Dropped ci******es, disposable BBQs, and open flames can start devastating moorland fires. Those responsible may face prosecution, fines, or imprisonment if their actions cause a wildfire. Help protect Exmoor, its wildlife, and local communities.

The official fire safety guidance for England advises people to properly dispose of ci******es and only use barbecues in designated areas, as fires on grassland, heathland, and moorland can spread rapidly.

Enjoy Exmoor responsibly and help protect this special landscape for everyone.

Thank you ❤🙏
