A small number in the grand scheme of things but one that means a great deal to us.

When we opened Severnside Press, our hope was simple: to create the sort of place we would want to stay ourselves:

thoughtful rooms

good breakfasts

and a chance to properly slow down for a few days

Thank you to every guest, who has stayed with us and taken the time to leave a review.

We read every one.

THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for Simple Supper this weekend.

What began as a simple idea - bringing guests, neighbours and visitors together around the same table - continues to be one of our favourite evenings of the month.

Our next Simple Supper will take place on Saturday 4th of July, 7pm, ยฃ30 per head.

With Independence Day falling that weekend, the menu will take inspiration from a few American classics, interpreted in our own way, thanks to

Places are limited.

Happy Sunday

Some places reward a longer stay.

The Forest of Dean is one of them.

A two or three-night break allows time to experience the area properly: mornings in Newnham-on-Severn, walks through ancient woodland, afternoons exploring the Wye Valley, and evenings spent lingering over dinner rather than watching the clock.

Summer is perhaps the best season to visit. The river is at its most inviting, village life spills outdoors, and the forest offers welcome shade on warmer days.

If youโ€™re considering a stay, our journal includes a guide to some of the best things to do in the Forest of Dean, from riverside walks and historic viewpoints to villages, gardens and places worth seeking out.

At Severnside Press, we encourage guests to stay a little longer. Not to see more, but to see things more slowly.

Not every weekend away needs to involve a long journey.

Just a couple of ours from London, Newnham on Severn sits between the River Severn and the Forest of Dean - a place of woodland walks, quieter villages and long breakfasts.

We recently wrote about why it makes such a rewarding alternative to more familiar countryside destinations, and why a stay of two nights or more allows time to experience not only the forest itself but the wider landscape beyond.

Some places are better discovered over a longer stay.

A walk that turns into an afternoon, quieter corners discovered without particularly looking for them, and weekends shaped more by place than plans.

We recently put together a to some of our favourite places across the forest, surrounding villages and Newnham itself.

A small number of longer stays remain across May & June.

Even a single night here feels like a pause from elsewhere - though the Forest has a habit of rewarding those able to stay a little longer.

A small number of Friday and two-night weekend stays remain across late May and June - a chance to arrive a little earlier, settle in properly, and let the weekend unfold without hurry.

Woodland walks, village afternoons, slower mornings and evenings that stretch a little longer than expected.

We recently wrote about spending a slower weekend here and why this corner of Gloucestershire feels so different from busier countryside destinations.

A thoughtful evening by the Severn.

We are looking forward to Super Severn Symposium - an exploration of landscape, ecology, history and communities shaped by the river itself. The sort of event that feels entirely at home in this part of Gloucestershire.

A reminder, too, that the Forest of Dean and Severn Valley are best understood slowly - through conversations, walks, maps, stories and weekends allowed a little more time than usual.

The Forest of Dean best taken slowly ๐Ÿ’š

Two nights, perhaps longer - enough time for woodland walks, hilltop paths, village afternoons - and the quieter rhythm that settles over this corner of Gloucestershire by evening.

A slower kind of weekend, shaped more by place than plans ๐Ÿ™Œ

A weekend, enjoyed properly:

Two nights and time enough to settle in. The Forest of Dean is best understood this way: through slower mornings, walks, village afternoons and evenings that stretch. ๐Ÿ’š

We recently wrote about why Newnham offers a gentler alternative to the and why staying a little longer tends to make far more sense than passing through.

A small number of two-night stays remain across May & June for those able to linger a little longer.
