And we made it out the other side. Boardmasters 2026 completed 🫶

It was a pretty outstanding effort from all, which included:

- looking after hundreds of hotel guests
- welcoming thousands of visitors to the bay
- putting on an event
- operating a new food venue
- and if that wasn’t enough, threw in another pop-up food stand to the mix

A little note from Sara, our general manager:

‘Thank you so much for all your hard work, I know there will be a lot of tired bodies and feet by now and I hope everyone enjoys some rest on their days off this week - it is very much deserved.

Thank you for an outstanding job.’

Three teams of 4 from finance, f&b and land&water joined in last nights Charlestown Challenge fundraiser organised by .

With no prior experience needed it was a great opportunity for some team building and to give gig rowing a try, while also having plenty more of fun.

Shout out to for coordinating the teams and for capturing it all 🚣‍♀️

A brilliant morning awareness session for both Watergate and SeaSpace Mental Health First Aiders with Lynn and the team from .

Such a valuable 2hrs and we look forward to doing some more of these to make sure as many of the team can take part.

Some key takeaways:
- there are 400 different types of dementia
- the youngest person diagnosed with dementia was 5 years old
- caring for someone with dementia is about joining them in their world and living their truth
- it’s all about inclusion

Thank you Lynn for delivering the session and for being so open with your own experiences.

Celebrating World Oceans Day with a team workshop with the super talented Janavi .

It rounds our Artist in Residence weekend off perfectly and everyone’s effort got full marks. Such a bonus to learn so many facts about humpback whales in the process, did you know that each whale creates a unique, identifiable spout pattern from their blowholes!

Our Green Team took a short trip yesterday to visit to have a tour and learn more about the amazing not-for-profit social enterprise that we support as a business.

As well as providing wellbeing support, skills and education courses, Newquay Orchard also provides facilities, office space, business support and runs a schedule of inclusive community events and activities.

Additionally, they also grow and teach people to cook nutritious, seasonal food with their veg grown onsite. The veg also feeds into their onsite Heart & Soul café which has become a well loved and well used community space in Newquay.

It was also great to see how the Nurture Garden was coming along which we’ve supported and some of the team have helped build. A particularly cool feature was a talking wellbeing bench made from reclaimed wood from Tretherras School which has an audio track to talk you through a guided meditation.

We’re looking forward to how we might be able to work together more on some impactful community projects. Thank you again Jenny for your time and knowledge sharing!

A big thank you to Sara, Lauren, Tammy and Emma for being the quiz masters tonight and for the kitchen team for the delicious food and to everyone who helped with the set up. 10 teams battled it out, of course there was some controversy over correct answers (what was that Watermillock?)

Congratulations to ‘I’m cheating and using chat gbp’ (aka, one half of the finance team) who took away the win tonight!

It was a day packed full of activities for our teams yesterday to mark Earth Day 🌍

Roots - Planet: Hospitality Roots, New Growth.
Together with , The Headland and ourselves curated a sustainability event specifically tailored for hospitality. The all-day event held at The Lost Gardens of Heligan focused on sustainable practices in hospitality and provided hints and tips that can be undertaken by a hospitality business to support not only the planet but the bottom line. With team both on the panel and attending, it was a thought-provoking day and even included two surprise feathered guests (who definitely made their own contributions throughout the day) 🐓

Earth Day team beach clean
The senior team kicked off the first of the team beach cleans. Using the new bags and pickers from our beach clean station (too windy at the moment to put it out on sea lane) they ventured to the far south end of the beach and back (1hr) and gathered up as much as they could. Quite a haul!♻️
