Doom Bar Newquay 7s
Rugby teams from all across the UK are gearing up to descend upon Newquay Tretherras School on the 23rd June for the ever-popular Doom Bar Newquay 7s tournament. The 2018 event is set to be as strong as ever and this year will host its largest ever number of women’s teams.
With 50 teams set to battle it out with each other over the course of the day, lots of spectators are anticipated to attend, and the relative calm of Newquay Tretherras School‘s grounds will be filled with the sound of tactical and motivational team talks, determined tackles and cheering crowds, all willing their teams on to victory.
Doom Bar Newquay 7s organiser, Andy Hawken, said: “We are incredibly excited about the 2018 Doom Bar Newquay 7s and what’s so amazing this year is that we have as many as 20 women’s teams, making this tournament one of the top three women’s 7s tournaments in the country! Altogether we have 50 teams coming from all over UK including Swansea, Essex, Guildford, Exmouth, Derbyshire – and of course – Cornwall. With lots of entertainment throughout the day, plus food and drinks offerings, families and rugby fans are set for a great day watching some fast and furious games in the Cornish sun (we hope!)”
Sharp’s Brewery’s Senior Brand Manager, James Nicholls, commented: “It’s going to be a great rugby day for everyone. I’d like to say thanks to the RFU and all the organisers of the Doom Bar Newquay 7s for bringing together yet another memorable rugby event here on our home turf in Cornwall. Doom Bar is honoured to support and sponsor this key event in the national rugby calendar. Best of luck from all at Sharp’s to all the participating teams.”
