🌞🌙 LOOKING UP? TODAY’S SOLAR ECLIPSE IN CORNWALL

Something rather special is happening in the Cornish skies this evening! On Wednesday 12 August 2026, Cornwall will experience a deep partial solar eclipse, with around 96% of the Sun covered by the Moon at its peak.

📍 Where to watch in Cornwall:
Head somewhere with a clear, unobstructed view towards the west/north-west. Cornwall’s beaches, coastal paths and open clifftops can offer fantastic vantage points – just make sure you’re somewhere safe and away from cliff edges.

⏰ When: The eclipse begins at around 6.18pm, with maximum coverage shortly after 7pm, before the event comes to an end around 8pm.

⚠️ PLEASE WATCH SAFELY: Never look directly at the Sun, even when most of it is covered. Ordinary sunglasses are not safe. Use genuine eclipse glasses or a certified solar viewer that meets the appropriate safety standard. Alternatively, use an indirect viewing method such as a pinhole projector.

So, find a safe spot, keep your eyes protected and look skywards – Cornwall is one of the best places in the UK to experience this spectacular eclipse!
