🚶‍♀️🌿 From Yellow Rock Orchard Cabins, enjoy a relaxing 2.75km walk into the Isle of Whithorn, taking around 30 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Leaving your holiday accommodation behind, you'll follow quiet country roads and peaceful countryside paths, listening to birds singing in the hedgerows 🐦 and watching cows grazing in the surrounding fields 🐄. It's the perfect opportunity to slow down, breathe in the fresh sea air 🌊 and enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful corner of Galloway.

As you approach the Isle of Whithorn, the charming harbour village comes into view ⚓, offering a warm welcome after your stroll. Why not treat yourself to a visit to St Ninian's Tearoom ☕🍰 for coffee and cake, or head down to the harbour and call into the Steam Packet Inn 🍺. There you can sample a pint of locally brewed Five Kingdoms beer while taking in views across the waterfront.

Whether you're starting your day with a gentle walk or rounding off an afternoon exploring the area, this short route from Yellow Rock Orchard Cabins to the Isle of Whithorn is a wonderful way to experience the peaceful countryside and coastal character of the Machars. 💚

Just over a mile from our accommodation, The Isle of Whithorn offers incredible sunrise views like these — but the best part is, you’ll be sure to catch beautiful sunrises from the accommodation too. 🫶

Whether you’re enjoying your morning coffee, heading out for an early walk, or simply watching the sky wake up, this coastline never disappoints. The colours, the peaceful sea views, and the calm start to the day make mornings here truly special.☕️🚶‍♂️🌊

You will pass us following the coastline from Brighouse Bay to Burrowhead 🚶‍♂️🫶

Did you know that there is an incredible circular walk on the SWC300 where you can set off from the sandy beach at Brighouse Bay?

You can then follow the coastline atop the cliffs with views to the south of the Isle of Man, to the east of Cumbria and west across Wigtown Bay to Burrowhead and the Machars Penninsula on a clear day.

The path then turns inland for a ramble through some of the region's rich dairy pasturelands and you can learn more about the fields interesting names with The Borgue Field Names Project and learn about the history of the area.
