Our destination focus this week is Llafranc.
Llafranc is one of three coastal villages in the Costa Brava, a northeastern coastal region of Catalonia. Its sun-kissed location is renowned for its beautiful beaches and calming sea, which are suitable for water sports such as swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and snorkelling.
There is also a vibrant marina home to various boats, offering options for rental and guided trips with professional skipper or taxi boat services to explore the coastline and nearby coves.
Back on dry land, Llafranc provides scenic hiking trails that wind through the surrounding hills and coastline, offering routes with panoramic views of the Mediterranean. Many of these routes are part of the GR-92 trail, linking Llafranc to nearby towns and historic landmarks.
Beyond its natural beauty, Llafranc provides modern amenities, including restaurants, cafés and boutique shops along the promenade, blending traditional charm with contemporary comfort.
Llafranc is close to…
Historic Landmarks:
The ancient ruins of Sant Sebastià de la Guarda
It’s an Iberian archaeological site that offers panoramic views of the Costa Brava coastline and a small museum showcasing monuments of its history.
Charming Medieval Village of Pals
With one thousand years of history, Pals is known for its Romanesque towers and cobbled streets, making it one of the most romantic towns to visit.
Girona Cathedral
Located in the heart of the medieval city of Girona, Girona Cathedral is well-known today for its appearance in Game of Thrones’ sixth season.
Scenic Coastal Trails:
Camí de Ronda
Originally built for the soldiers as a footpath along the Costa Brava coast to patrol the area and prevent smuggling, it now consists of public footpaths connecting tourist beaches and resorts, with some sections connected to the GR 92 long-distance trail along Spain’s Mediterranean coast.
Coastal Path From Calella to Llafranc
South of the GR 92 trail in Llafranc, you can follow the coast to Calella de Palafrugell, which takes approximately 20 minutes. This short route offers plenty of photo opportunities of the whitewashed finishing villages, rugged cliffs and picturesque coves.
Memorable Boat or Kayak Trips:
Explore sea caves like Cova d’en Gispert, the longest sea cave in Costa Brava, and marvel at the views of rugged cliffs, sea caves, secluded beaches and pine forests.
At Prestige Villas Spain, we offer an exclusive selection of luxury villas in Llafranc. Each villa is carefully curated to provide guests with comfort, style and proximity to the beach.
