First passengers heading for Papay from the Oceean Nova today. The second of our cruise ships this year. Despite all the negativity about these visits to Orkney, I think they are a great thing for a small island to do. In moderation, with small groups, the pub opens, the band plays, the Papay Co-op has some earnings, and guides get paid, perfect.
A fun social occasion for visitors and Papay folk alike.

Along with other accommodation providers in Scotland, Papa Westray Hostel is closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and will remain closed during or after Phase 3 of the Scottish Government’s route map out of lockdown. As such the hostel will definitely remain closed until the end of July and very possibly longer. No new booking will be taken yet for July or August. We will not apply any fees for booking cancellations. We look forward to welcoming visitors back when the time is right.
