We’ve been working hard to conserve water and make every drop count.

When we change over our huts, we reuse the hot tub water to fill our rainwater tanks, rather than letting it go to waste.

So for some guests, the water used for a lovely relaxing soak in the hot tub can go on to be reused and flush another guest’s toilet! A simple way we’ve found to conserve water where we can.

Our rainwater tanks have made a noticeable difference to our water storage and we’re so pleased with how much they’ve helped us to reduce our water use.

We had a cheeky surprise when we went to do our daily check of the water tank… only to find this little lady helping herself to a drink from the new spring we’ve discovered! 🐑

Clearly, word has got out about the new watering hole and she wasn’t holding back.

It was a lovely moment of relief 😊

From September we’ll be celebrating 5 years since we opened! Five years of amazing memories, hard work, laughter, challenges and so many incredible people who have walked through our doors.

Five years since the early days. From choosing names and paint colours for the huts to sheep escaping into our garden and wondering who they belonged to as we’d not met the neighbours yet.

Designing the inside of the shepherd huts to create a space that was warm and welcoming and where guests could truly relax, switch off and feel at home from the moment they stepped inside.

For five years, our little shepherd huts have been a place where guests can leave the hustle and bustle behind and enjoy the simple pleasures of country life. When we moved here, we thought the views were too good to keep to ourselves so we wanted to share them with others hence the shepherd huts. Offering guests a chance to slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy a relaxing escape.

As a small business, we take pride in providing a warm, personal experience for every guest. Over the past 5 years, we’ve had the pleasure of helping create lasting memories. We’re incredibly thankful to everyone who has stayed with us, shared kind words, returned time and again and recommended us to friends and family.

We look forward to welcoming many more guests to our little corner of the countryside for years to come. Love Graeme & Heather x

There’s something special hearing about Wild Valley Huts through the people who have stayed here.

For some, it’s the peace and quiet. For others, it’s the views, the walks or the wood fire. The perfect place to relax, romance or dream.

Romance
Couples come for time together.
Not necessarily to do anything extraordinary but to escape the noise of everyday life and have a few days that belong entirely to them.
No rushing. No schedules. No distractions.

Their stay isn’t about filling every hour. It’s about emptying them. A slow morning beneath the duvet. A long soak in the hot tub. An afternoon curled up with a book.

The water wagon is no longer required so we’ve been able to return to dropping guests off in the next valley at the beautiful scenic spot of Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall, to walk the stunning 11 mile walk back to base-Wild Valley Huts.

A simple trip for us, allowing easily the best day of walking in the Berwyn’s for our guests. Exploring a place of wild, natural beauty. They’ll discover the…

Dramatic, powerful Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall.
Hidden and secluded at the end of the valley.

Lush rolling hills softly curved and weaving along the stream.
Up to the ridge with steep drops and dramatic rock faces.

The ridge peaceful and uncrowded like they have it all to themselves.
The silence as they leave the busy world below.

A high level ridge walk bagging the trio: Moel Sych, Cadair Berwyn and Cadair Bronwen before they returned to Cwm Maengwynedd. The valley home to us- Wild Valley Huts.

Our shepherd huts and bunkhouse are the perfect base where you can enjoy a drop off at the famous, scenic Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall and take the walk home.

Mother and daughter weekends for you to share at Wild Valley Huts shepherd huts. Enjoyed by our recent mother and daughter stay, ‘the hut was beautifully styled with luxurious finishes. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub after a hike. The accommodation was very well furnished with everything we needed and the bed was super comfy. The hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly and on hand to help if we needed it. I would highly recommend a stay here - we loved every minute!’

Our water tank to go up the hill!

Usually I’d have had delivery disappointment but on this occasion I was super excited that the tank had arrived! The whole 125 litres with an 8” lid undrilled! Whoo hoo!

I was eager to get the tank in place and see it all come together.
Graeme was clear that coffee was first.

Graeme was missing some technical parts so he headed back down the hill while …

… I admired the view.

Graeme rang and chaos unfolded.
Admiring the view was short lived.

He had found the parts he wanted and on getting up he had split his head open.
I raced down the hill to see if he was ok.

He wasn’t ok. He stood there with a blood soaked towel to his head and blood dripping down his face.
I was hoping our new guests didn’t arrive right at this moment with Graeme looking like something from a horror film.

Having to rest to stop the bleeding, he found this the perfect moment to watch an episode of SAS Rogue Hero’s.

He is all fine after a 3hour visit to fix his gash at the minor injuries clinic. We’ll be back on the water tank project tomorrow.
