This weekend we welcome 26th Leeds Boys' Brigade Company to Leng House Hostel. Not a great looking forecast unfortunately. 🌧️ We hope they have a fantastic time nonetheless.

We went under the floorboards of our Victorian Tin Chapel... and found a time capsule left behind by the men who built it.

​Just 100 yards down the lane from our hostel sits a small building with a very big story. Our 130-year-old Tin Chapel is one of the most unique features of a stay here—a quiet place of reflection that has stood the test of time since 1895.

​During a careful renovation a few years ago, the building gave up its secrets. Hidden beneath the floorboards for well over a century, we discovered:
🪚 A carpenter’s chisel, left behind by the men who built it.
✍️ A signed and dated floorboard from the original 19th-century construction.

​These pieces of history are now proudly on display inside, alongside our collection of heritage Boys' Brigade features and our beautiful, original pump organ. 🎹

​For generations, this chapel has echoed with the sound of "Will Your Anchor Hold." It has been a place where hundreds of young people have found quiet moments of reflection.

​Whether you came here as a Boy in the 50s or a leader last summer, the Tin Chapel remains almost exactly as you remember it—a peaceful and special piece of BB history.

As we prepare to ring in 2026, we’ve been looking back through the archives.

​For nearly 90 years, Leng House has been more than just a building—it has been a place of adventure, friendship, and discovery for generations of Boys' Brigade members. From the first groups who arrived in the late 1930s to the companies who joined us this past year, the "Sure & Stedfast" spirit is built into these stone walls.

​We’ve seen decades of:
🥾 Hikes across the moors (that ended with hot tea!)
🔥 Stories and songs by the fire
⚓ Lessons in leadership and life-long friendships
🍳 Legendary breakfasts in the dining area

​We want to see your history! 📸
