It was a somber start to the day this morning when we found this little seal pup washed up on the beach. Sadly, she was no longer alive.

This very young female was most likely overcome by the rough sea conditions this week.

If you ever come across a live sea animal on land, please NEVER approach it. Keep any dogs on a lead and contact the British Divers Marine Life Rescue hotline straight away on: 01825 765546

Seals regularly haul out on our coasts – it is part of their normal behaviour and, in fact, they spend more time out of the water, digesting their food and resting than in it. Therefore, finding a seal on the beach does not mean there is necessarily a problem and DO NOT chase it into the sea as this may stop it from doing what it needs to do – rest. A healthy seal should be left alone. 🦭

Recording stranded animals provides us with information about the marine environment and the health of marine creatures. This information is vital in helping us to conserve wildlife and cannot be learnt from studying live animals. This applies to anything from Jellyfish, sea birds and buoy barnacles up to dolphins, seals and even whales.

EXTRA HANDS NEEDED FOR SOME SPRING TIME SPRUCING!

It looks like we have this weather on our side for the rest of the week so we are going to try and take advantage and break the back of the seasons painting.

If you would like to make this your office for the week and you can handle a paint brush, we are looking for a small army of casual help. A few hours here and there, or the whole week, whatever time you can spare.

Hello Spring!

So we have been a bit quiet on here…
Today.. we completed the sale of our lovely apartment. We have had nearly 8 wonderful years in this most special place but we feel that we want to see other places too now and are looking forward to our travels in Vanski (our camper!)
We thank all of those who have stayed and enjoyed our place. We always had fun there!
Time to concentrate on www.vacheroy.com and maybe visit THIS beautiful place?
Cornwall, you will always have a special place in our hearts ♥️

40 years ago 8 fearless, brave, selfless lifeboat men lost their lives in a heroic attempt to save the stricken Union Star.

They’re valour, courage and determination will never be forgotten.

16 Souls were lost that tragic night.

Our hearts are with Mousehole today, in remembrance of the Penlee Lifeboat disaster.
