Dark skies

Presteigne our local town and the nearby village of Norton in Powys, Wales, were officially certified as the first International Dark Sky Community in Wales by DarkSky International on January 11, 2024.

The 40-square-kilometer area reduced light pollution by dimming and modifying local streetlights.

Achieved in 2024 after a six-year local community and council campaign. Covers Presteigne and Norton with a combined population of around 2,700.
Features smart street lighting programmed to dim or turn off later to cut glare.
Environmental & Community ImpactCut annual carbon dioxide emissions by roughly 4.5 tonnes.
Protected local wildlife populations, particularly light-sensitive bats, birds, and night-flying insects.

We are located close to the Spaceguard Centre where you can visit the observatory near Knighton.

Or you can just sit back and watch from our wrap round deck in our super comfy rocking seats.

Wow what a weekend!
We hosted our first Menopause Retreat, it was such a wonderful day thanks to our amazing hosts it was truly more than I could have hoped for.
We had a talk with Verity, helping us to understand all the stages and symptoms of The Menopause. HRT and its applications and side effects.
Carrie ran a brilliant work out, with a mixture of weight training and a HIT workout.
We provided a nourishing lunch which was devoured before brownies and teas.
Annie led a fascinating talk about five elements acupuncture, teaching us about each element; how they work, affect each other and how to treat them.
She then demonstrated cupping in her pop up therapy room in the wild flower meadow. Amazing how many people you can fit in a bell tent!

We then hit the sauna and cold plunge well into the evening, with Annie running therapy sessions alongside.

Thanks so much to everyone who attended, it really was such a special day. We all came away feeling so replenished, topped up and having made some amazing new friends.
