There’s something so special about autumn at Sunshine & Sandcastles Retreat 🍂🤎

Cosy nights tucked away together, crisp walks along the beach listening to the waves, and the slower pace that gives you time to enjoy the little family moments.

Autumn is my favourite time of year. Everything feels calmer, cosier and more meaningful — and that’s exactly what makes Sunshine & Sandcastles such a big piece of our heart. It’s a place where we can switch off, be together and enjoy those precious moments with our little family 🥰🌊

☀️🏖️ A little hello & welcome to our new followers! 🏖️☀️

We’ve had quite a few new faces join our page recently, so we thought we’d introduce ourselves and say a huge welcome to Sunshine & Sandcastles Retreat! 💛

We’re Charlotte & Jamie, and together with our three children, we’re the family behind our little home-from-home at Weymouth Bay. 🥰

And as you can probably tell from the photo… taking silly family pictures is pretty normal for us! 😂 Getting one where all five of us are actually looking at the camera, nobody is pulling a face and everyone is smiling nicely is a VERY rare achievement! 🤦‍♀️😂 I’m sure plenty of you with kids can relate!

We absolutely love family holidays, making memories and spending time by the coast, which is a huge part of why we wanted our caravan to feel like somewhere families can arrive, switch off and genuinely feel at home. 🏡🌊

Our caravan is a 3-bedroom, 8-berth retreat with lots of the little home comforts we appreciate ourselves when we go away — WiFi, Smart TVs, an air fryer, coffee machine, board games and plenty more. We’re also just a short walk from beautiful Bowleaze Cove and a quick drive from Weymouth beach. 🐚

When you book with us, you’re not booking with a big company — you’re supporting our little family, and we genuinely appreciate every booking, share, recommendation and follow more than you know.

We’ll be using this page to share our availability, offers, caravan updates and some of our favourite places to visit around Weymouth & Dorset too. 🌊☀️

📍 Another Dorset day out to add to your list… Poole! ⚓️✨

During our last stay we took a trip over to Poole and had such a lovely day. 🥰

We enjoyed a gorgeous meal overlooking Poole Harbour, followed by a stroll along the waterfront taking in the boats, views and atmosphere. 🌊⛵️

We also happened to visit on the perfect evening because the harbour front started filling up with beautiful vintage and classic cars! 🚗✨ They hold a classic car gathering there once a month, and there were so many incredible cars pulling up — the kids and adults loved having a look around them!

It was such a lovely unexpected addition to our evening and definitely something worth checking out if the dates line up with your stay. ❤️

One of the things we love most about staying in Dorset is just how many different places there are to explore — beaches, harbours, countryside, seaside towns and little days out like this, all within reach of the caravan. 🏖️⚓️

So if you’re staying with us, pop Poole onto your places-to-visit list… and if you can catch the classic cars while you’re there, even better! 🚘😍

What a beautiful evening we had last night at Lulworth Cove ☀️🌊

We headed out for a peaceful walk along the cove just as the sun was starting to dip, and it honestly couldn’t have been more perfect. The views were absolutely stunning, with the cliffs glowing in the evening light and the sea so calm and soothing to listen to. It was one of those moments where you just stop, breathe it all in, and appreciate how special Dorset really is 💙

We took our time strolling along the shoreline, enjoying the fresh sea air and the sound of the waves rolling in. It was so peaceful and relaxing – the perfect way to unwind and switch off for a while.

After our walk, we finished the evening with a visit to the The Lulworth Cove Inn 🍻
A lovely little family-friendly pub with a warm atmosphere, and the perfect spot to end a coastal evening. It really rounded the night off beautifully.

If you’re staying with us at Sunshine & Sandcastles Retreat, we highly recommend adding Lulworth Cove to your must-visit list – especially for an evening walk followed by a cosy pub stop. It’s one of those places that never disappoints ☀️🏖️

🌅 Views like this are exactly why we love Weymouth & Portland!

We captured this gorgeous sunset yesterday from one of the highest points on Portland, looking out across the coastline. 😍 Sometimes a photo really doesn’t do the view justice!

One of our favourite things about having our little home-from-home in Weymouth is having so many beautiful places like this right on the doorstep. From beach days and coastal walks to evenings chasing sunsets, there’s always somewhere new to explore. 🥰

Last night we wandered over to Bowleaze Cove after dark, and it was honestly magical.

The sound of the waves, the lights from the boats glowing out at sea, and across the bay the sky lighting up with the Weymouth summer fireworks.

There was something so peaceful and almost tranquil about sitting by the sea at night and watching it all from the cove.

And the best part? You could experience evenings like this during your stay with us too! 🥰
