The bar itself was made many moons ago using panels from a church in Inverbervie, so we heard from a visitor this week. Such a lot of history in the building!

Sometimes when things don’t go to plan, it works out better!

This week we found the original features in the restaurant and after many holes being cut to explore, decided it was too nice to be covered up and it’s all being ripped out to restore it to its former glory.

It’ll be worth it in the end 😵‍💫😍

Hi everyone, introducing, The Ghillie's Rest, the new St Cyrus Hotel/Village Inn.

We wanted a name that reflected the landscape, history and way of life that has shaped this region for generations. A ghillie was traditionally a trusted guide accompanying guests on sporting pursuits such as deer stalking, grouse shooting and fishing, activities that have long been woven into the fabric of our local heritage.

The name pays tribute to these traditions while creating a welcoming place where locals and visitors alike can gather, relax and enjoy great food, drinks and hospitality. The other hot contender was The Sheriff's Kettle but cannibalism isn't the restaurant vibe we're going for!

Whether you're joining us for a hearty meal, a drink with friends, a weekend stay, or simply a place to unwind after exploring this incredible area of Scotland, we look forward to welcoming you to The Ghillie's Rest when we open.
