🚧 Update from Sizewell C: Friday Street Traffic Management 🚧

We wanted to update you on the traffic management on the A12 and Friday Street junction. As you are aware, our works at Friday Street to provide a new roundabout are designed to improve traffic flow and enhance safety at what has historically been a dangerous junction of the A12. All measures comply with highway laws and regulations, as approved by Suffolk County Council Highways.

Following the incidents reported over the last couple of weeks, we immediately began a full review of the site and our traffic management arrangements alongside Suffolk County Council Highways, Suffolk Constabulary and our site contractors Breheny.

As a precaution, our contractors have installed lower-height barriers to improve visibility, and Vehicle Activated Speed Signs will soon be added at key approach points.

From tonight you will see three way traffic lights in place during the evening rush hour. The lights will be operational during the night and lifted 0600 the next day.

Further improvements to the junction will be made over the weekend, including replacing traffic barriers with cones and reviewing the road signs position to improve visibility.

The construction area is clearly marked, and in partnership with Suffolk County Council, National Highways, East Suffolk Council and Suffolk Constabulary, we regularly review traffic management to ensure the site remains safe, well-managed and compliant with environmental standards.

Safety is – and will always be – our top priority. We will continue to monitor the site daily and adapt our arrangements to protect both road users and our workforce. We thank road users for their continued patience as we deliver this important infrastructure.
