Dark evenings are about to get a little brighter in Scarborough ✨

From 12th November, Scarborough Lights will illuminate locations across the town with stunning light installations and family friendly activities, with a special drone display taking place over Scarborough Castle later in the month.

It’s a perfect excuse for a pre Christmas escape: wrap up warm, explore the lights and then head back to Royal Victoria House for a cosy evening together.

When you go away as a group, some of the best moments happen around the table.

Slow breakfasts before heading out for a day of exploring Scarborough, a big Sunday roast cooked with love, glasses raised to someone special or a takeway when you don't fancy cooking.

Our kitchen and dining space was designed with exactly those moments in mind, with plenty of room for everyone to gather together.

Because when you’re bringing a big group away, having a space where you can actually all sit, eat and catch up together makes all the difference.

Scarborough isn’t just for summer 🍂

There’s something so magical about a seaside break at this time of year, wrapping up for a walk along the beach, stopping somewhere warm for lunch and heading back to Royal Victoria House for an evening together.

And when the temperature drops? That’s when the hot tub feels even better.

If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to get the family or your favourite people together, an autumn escape to the Yorkshire coast might be just what you need.

We always appreciate reading your lovely feedback after a stay with us, as it is so rewarding to know we have helped create wonderful memories. A recent guest, Sean, shared this fantastic review following his visit:

"Wow wow wow, the house as you step in is lovely, warm and welcoming. The kitchen is such a high spec with a great breakfast bar. Perfect size dinning table to get everyone around. All bedrooms great sizes and the hot tub was a great added bonus. The street is great as no problems with parking as it is free all the time. Everyone was sad to be leaving on the last day. Can not wait to return"

When we first set up Royal Victoria House, we made some very intentional choices about how we wanted the space to feel.

Travelling with a large group can sometimes feel a little exhausting, and we strongly believe that nobody should ever have to sacrifice comfort just because they are booking for a crowd. We wanted to give our guests the wonderful feeling of being at home, but wonderfully elevated.

That is exactly why you will find an incredibly well stocked kitchen ready for large family meals, huge comfortable sofas where absolutely everyone has a proper seat, and a spacious dining table set right beside a warm fireplace. It is all about bringing people together in complete comfort.

The autumn calendar in Scarborough is packed with brilliant local entertainment. Visiting during the quieter off peak season certainly does not mean a lack of wonderful things to do.

We highly recommend booking tickets for The Comedy Store at Scarborough Spa starting on the 16th October, or wandering through the colourful stalls of The Scarborough Fair Autumn Streets between the 10th and 11th October. For music lovers, the renowned Scarborough Jazz Festival from the 25th to the 27th September is always a truly spectacular weekend to experience.

Make Royal Victoria House your luxurious base camp for enjoying these wonderful cultural events.
