We firmly believe that a family holiday is simply not complete without your four legged best friend. Royal Victoria House is a proudly pet friendly property, and we want to ensure your dogs have just as much fun in their new environment as you do.
Since this beautiful coastal town is practically made for dogs, we have put together a quick guide to help your pets get the absolute most out of their Yorkshire getaway.
Tip 1: Bring a slice of home.
While our house is incredibly comfortable, a new environment can sometimes be a little confusing for a pet. We always recommend packing their absolute favourite blanket, their usual bed, or a few well loved toys. Having those familiar scents around will help them settle into the house straight away and feel completely at ease in the new space.
Tip 2: Explore the local trails.
Scarborough itself is an incredibly dog friendly town, offering a wonderful mix of scenic routes right on our doorstep. Whether you prefer a gentle city stroll through the historic streets or a long rambling nature walk along the sweeping coastal paths, getting out and about early in the day is a brilliant way to burn off some of that excited holiday energy.
Tip 3: Plan your pub stops.
The Yorkshire coast is famous for its welcoming traditional pubs, and you will be delighted to know that many of the lovely local establishments near our home are very happy to welcome well behaved dogs. It means you can easily stop off for a pint of local ale or a hearty lunch during your daily walks without having to leave your companion behind.
Tip 4: Create a cosy corner.
After a long day of running on the sand and taking in the fresh sea air, your dog will need a comfortable spot to rest. We have plenty of spacious living areas where you can set up their bed out of the way of the main foot traffic. They can snooze happily by the warm indoor fireplaces while you relax on the sofa for the evening.
Tip 5: Managing sandy paws.
A trip to the beach is essential, but no pup wants sand irritating their paw pads, and nobody wants sand tracked through the house! Keep a small towel and water bottle in your bag to wash away any surface level sand.
Tip 6: Welcoming local cafes.
Scarborough has plenty of lovely spots to grab a coffee where dogs are greeted with open arms. Whether you're looking to treat your furry friend to a puppaccino or just resting your legs in between adventures, be sure to stop at one of the many dog friendly cafes and tea rooms in Scarborough!
There is so much for the whole family to explore together. Book your pet friendly stay today via the link in our bio and start planning your perfect coastal retreat.
