✨ DID YOU KNOW THAT A LITTLE BIT OF NEVERLAND WAS CREATED RIGHT HERE IN SCOURIE? ✨

🏴‍☠️🧚‍♀️ Peter Pan, J. M. Barrie and Scourie Lodge!

Here at Scourie Lodge, we're incredibly proud of the history within our walls. But there's one remarkable chapter of our story that we think deserves a little more attention!

In August 1911, the celebrated Scottish author J. M. Barrie, creator of Peter Pan, stayed at Scourie Lodge during a visit to the Highlands.

And here's where the story gets really interesting...

📖 Historical accounts indicate that Barrie worked on his famous novel Peter and Wendy during his time here in Scourie!

Although Peter Pan had already appeared on the London stage in 1904, the novel was published later in 1911, making Barrie's stay at Scourie Lodge part of the story behind one of the world's most beloved children's classics.

Even more remarkably, an original letter written by Barrie from Scourie Lodge, dated 19 September 1911, survives as a tangible connection to his time here.

Just imagine it...

Over 115 years ago, J. M. Barrie was enjoying the very same Highland surroundings that our guests experience today, perhaps putting pen to paper as he brought the magical world of Peter Pan to life.

🌿 The same gardens. The same Highland landscape. The same historic Lodge.

For us, Scourie Lodge is much more than a place to stay or enjoy a meal at The Woodland Table. It's a building with stories woven into its very fabric, and we're privileged to be part of its continuing history.

And who knows? Perhaps a little of the magic of Neverland still lingers here in Scourie. ✨

We’ve had some stunning sunsets this past week.

The beauty of the highlands in autumn is that you don’t have to stay up late to capture the great colours. The sunset and sunrise are at a much more sociable hour.

🦆We have some new guests checking in this month 🦆

🐣Our duck eggs are on day 3 of their 28 days incubation. We’ll update on day 10 when we candle them to see how they are getting on.

🐥Our chickens are arriving a week today. Some big jobs needed to get the chicken coop up to the 5⭐️standard the rest of our guests expect

🦆It’s not just the chicken coop getting a refresh. Our walled garden is getting a good clear back and tidy up before the autumn planting begins. You wouldn’t believe how many bulbs are arriving

Anyone locally will know what a fabulous local business this is. The products and ethos is superb and those autumn scents are incredible.

This is Sophie and Stuart, two absolute diamonds who own the Scourie Lodge & Gardens B&B up on the north west coast of Scotland.

Lovely building, lovely food from a lovely family run business. All included on this Sunday's episode as I continue my journey around the entire coast of mainland Scotland 👌

Our first Apple picker of the season and she is by far our favourite. Cuteness overload. Please note we will not send this small child up a tree if you want apples picking. We have bigger children to throw up.

Come and pick apples. We have an abundance of eating and cooking apples at the lodge. Please come and help yourself. Anyone who’s not able to pick please let us know and we shall send a small child up a tree 😁

After the rain comes the beautiful flower displays. Photographed by head gardener Beth, our stunning display really knows how to catch the eye. A walk around the garden is never dull with everyday bringing a new colour and bloom to our spaces.
