Mist and drizzle, but the valley is so lovely and quiet.
After a crazy spring bank week of glorious sunshine, the valley was completely overrun. The roads were blocked and Scafell Pike was packed with people and litter.
We had a full day of absolute torrential rain yesterday, today’s supposed to be better and the rain is due to stop this afternoon. But the peace, quiet and coolness is beautiful.

Welcome to the weekend! It’s here – hurrah!!

If you’re visiting us in Cumberland, please love our home like it’s your own 💚

If you’re heading out, help keep everyone safe and protect our special places:

🚗 Park considerately – use designated bays and don’t block access, especially for farms and emergency routes
🧭 Plan ahead – busy spots fill up fast, so think about alternatives or take the bus: www.cumberland.gov.uk/bus-timetables
🌊 Be water aware – lakes and rivers may look inviting, but cold water shock is a real risk
🏕️ Camp responsibly – use official sites, leave no trace and take all litter home
💚 Respect the area – leave it as you found it (or even better!)
Small actions really do make a big difference 🙌

Thank you for helping to keep our communities, countryside and visitors safe; and for looking after the beautiful area we’re proud to call home.

So much cooler this morning! But also quite windy (although I have to say it’s lovely!)
Lambing Time 2026 is officially completed! With the last ewe lambed at some point this morning or last night. Mother and baby doing well.

A much cooler morning and a slight covering of cloud. I hope it stays! The last couple of days have been so hot to be honest, it hasn’t been much fun working in it. I’d say walking in it has been too much too, a few people checking in yesterday arrived on foot, exhausted from the heat.
I hope you all had a fabulous bank holiday weekend and for those with kids on holiday at the moment, enjoy this glorious weather!
